Hook that PZ back-up!
@weedeewop, I should not have done that. This sounds good, really, really good. Dammit!!!
Imagine how much better it would sound with a Diablo 333. At least 4.78 times better.
You truly are having fun!
Maybe 4.25 times better.
At least 3.33 times better
And no Tubes to replace! Unfortunately you would have to deal with unlimited power.
Unlimited power corrupts, unlimitedly.
I checked their website, it doesn’t look like the review is available online yet?
The review is in issue 236. I don’t believe it is on the website.
This thread here might just have the most descriptive reviews on the PowerZone, even though sometimes a little over-the-top gushy, lol
Have a look here! https://youtu.be/L8I_deaVNTU
Hello all of you out there,
I am the happy owner of a Gryphon Power Zone and since I am writing my thesis on the subject of “informing” or “quantum technology” as many call it, I can give you some information.
Part 1:
It is true, the Power Zone is not a mains filter or generator. It works with Hafner Tech modules. Hafner Tech uses quantum technology in its modules.
Informing or quantum applications have been increasingly used in the hi-fi sector in recent years. More and more manufacturers, including renowned companies such as Nordost, Stein, Gryphon, Ansuz, Synergistic Research, Harmonix, QSA, Accoustic Revive, Shunyata, Bybee, and many others - mostly anonymously - are “informing” their products.
The companies using the informing provide very little information about these quantum applications.
Probably because informing does not cost much and is not based on physical but on subtle, atmospheric or supernatural aspects.
This is why the manufacturers fear for their good reputation and the seriousness of their pricing.
The effects of a successful quantum application, as the Power Zone and other successful Informed products prove beyond doubt, are perceptible to the ear and therefore undoubtedly effective.
A quantum application transmits oscillating fields that dampen disturbing frequency ranges like an equalizer. Used skilfully, this leads to a more pleasant, less stressful sound.
Part 2 to follow
Curious and looking forward to your thoughts on the Hafner Tech modules and the PowerZone in Part 2…
I’m sure i’ve missed this in the prior 1534 messages, but… are people finding the PZ quite sensitive to the shelf it’s on? I had my PZ sitting on my (oak suspended) floor with some Cardas myrtle wood blocks. I rearranged things last night in preparation for the solid wood rack I’m prototyping (similar to a Massif rack, stepping stone to a full custom design with HRS shelves) and moved the PZ to the bottom shelf of my $199 Pangea temporary rack, and wow did that kill the sound… muddy, muffled, flatter soundstage, duller dynamics. Just yuck. I know the rack is crap and 1/2" MDF is a terrible audio shelf, but I wasn’t expecting it to be that bad. I guess I better hurry up and finish my rack design…
I have a custom MDF shelf with Stack EQ1 feet underneath the stock PZ feet. Seems ok.
That is interesting to me. The design of the PowerZone involves a special base material and feet designed to minimize the need for special feet and shelving. But your ears have heard what they have heard. I told someone on this forum that if the put a PowerZone on a Pangea shelf it would burst into flame. Funny reading your comment!
Some of the lads here have experimented with special feet under the Powerzone. I have not. But my rack has extensive suspension underneath mine. I may have to experiment.
Thanks for posting your findings!
LOL what a coincidence. I better rectify this before my house goes up in an audio incendiary event.
I will put the PZ back on its stock feet for now and see if that helps at all…
But still on a Pangea shelf? At minimum that should void the PowerZone warranty.
I’m sure it’s better than this 1/2" Pangea crap. Right now I’m playing with some 1.5" solid walnut and maple shelves that I’ll dado into solid maple posts that have steel reinforcing channels. If that gives a good result, I’ll finish my design and order the HRS shelves before my PZ explodes as @aangen warned.
