Gryphon PowerZone

I count on you!

Hopefully I can find three good things to say about it. But sounds like it does need some break in time which is not a surprise at all. So, I may let it runs for a few days before I say anything.

Giving mine time to settle in and for my ears to adjust. Early comments would likely change, and at the moment my priorities are elsewhere. Patience shall be rewarded.
BTW, as I understand it opening the PZ voids the warranty. I will not be opening mine, that I will leave to others.

For whatever reason I guess they don’t want anyone seeing what’s under the hood.

Not uncommon, both as an incentive to keep curious fingers away and potentially doing harm, and as a slight effort to protect the tech - primarily the former.

It continues to amaze how many will open a component and then expect the manufacturer to fix under warranty any damages caused.

Modesty is in confidently knowing the qualities, but refrein from bragging about them.
So, how is this in Al’s case. Did he just mention them to prove all of us a favor?

I also like descriptors being used to convey to others the benefits of an audio product. If a product brings with it an airy quality to a system, that would be beneficial to know, for instance. For people’s whose systems are too dull sounding, that would be most welcome. For a system that is already on the bright side, an additional airy quality might be a detriment. So I do like the use of descriptors, as it is meaningful to me.
If a product, such as the PowerZone brings benefit to one’s system, it would be beneficial to me to hear all the descriptors of HOW it helps the system.

I’ll create the no sense of humor thread for you. In the end it’s all about fun.

I’m following Al blindly since he’s the cult leader, and I say PZ improves everything in my system. Wait! I don’t have it yet, that was just a dream.

The other Paul is giving Luca a homework assignment. I’m leaving for Hawaii next week, so I’m not sure I’ll be ready to do any homework 🏌🏽‍♂️

You are one of the few who have experienced the PZ and heard a positive change.

Yes, but I have not heard the PZ long enough to give a full description. The only thing I can say is the PZ brought everything into focus. Your system did not sound out of focus without the PZ, but it somehow brought everything into focus.

The MU2 and the CJ GAT-S2 preamp, I can use a lot more descriptors, as I have heard these 2 components for a longer time period in my system. There is more air, everything is cleaner and more open sounding, female vocals sound stunning, piano sounds more realistic than ever before (and sounded good before). There is more vibrancy and music is grain-free and smooth and clean. These 2 components have elevated my system to a higher level than it was before. I used to have a love-hate with my system, love with classical & jazz, some muddiness with rock, even though there was a ton of magic. That was the older system and does not apply to the newer system. Well recorded music sounds smoother, cleaner and more open, and better than ever, while poorly recorded music sounds more closed in and compressed, and worse than ever.

Edit: I should add that female vocals sounded smoother with the PowerZone at @paul172

I’m honoured! Never thought that would be achievable.

I heard continued improvement from MU2 long after one week, and I heard continued improvement from FR30 long after three weeks! My vacation starts on 10/22, and after I come back PZ will have close to three weeks of burn in. I am interested to find out if I will hear any difference (assuming I still remember ).

If I were in your shoes I’d cancel the vacation!
