Hermes Streamer by Sonnet Digital Audio

Thanks Vince.

But I don’t “do USB” in the big rig.

I am Wi-Fi/Ethernet exclusive when it comes to getting tunes distributed in my network.

Maybe I’ll devolve () to the USB means of transmittal in the future though.

Cheers.

What I was referring to was the input to the DAC itself, particularly the MKII that does not have a network connection.

I see your point with other gear.

I’m still really curious about iFi’s NEO Stream. The connections, as we’ve discussed in the AirLens thread, are compelling.

The top end streamer market is really getting good for consumers.

I would like to see one of these without a DAC.

Thanks for sharing this.

I agree.

Me too. From the ifi website, it appears that one can bypass the internal DAC. I want to do more research about this, and about whether the I2S output is compatible with PS audio DACs.

the connectivity is most impressive

It is PSA compatible and you can bypass the DAC or use it your choice.

I selected the Holo for just this reason. If you go with the ifi (which is a stunning piece of equipment, I grant you), you’re 1) paying for a DAC you absolutely don’t need if you have a DirectStream, and 2) a tiny screen which you probably won’t use.

Now I wait. 4-6 lead time on the Holo.
