Thanks for thinking of me!
Either the Monolith Flat MAX2 or the Weber EG-1 will be on my upgrade path. I think the DF83 is simply a gateway drug.

Me too. I know with this grinder I will weigh before and after grinding for a little while to get a sense of retention. But I am guessing once the burrs are seasoned and I get used to the bellows, I will get to a point where I will only weigh Pre-grind.
Weighing is really the only means to ensure consistency and remove variables. Even at its most simple, one part beans to two parts water, processed during an average of thirty seconds at 9 Bar, gets most people in the ballpark of a decent espresso. Clearly there’s enough room within those precepts to make some changes to dial-in to something really tasty.
First grinder was a Mazzer SJ and then an upgrade to Mazzer Kony as I prefer conical burrs. Lovely machine but really for high volume and it was a pia adapting home-made bellows for single dosing, plus you had to purge(waste) loads of coffee every time you changed the grind.
Happily the Niche Zero came along as a Kickstarter in the UK with identical 63mm conical burr set to the Kony and it’s very well made as well as being a third of the price.
Turns out those of use who spritz a little water onto our beans before grinding can now feel smug:

In audiophile terminology, water in this instance is acting like the dielectric component of cables
Got one of these, too, although in black. Pairs nicely with an ECM Puristika.
Yep I went for the black as well (pic is just a stock)
Synchronika owner here as well. I bought it before the flow control was available and haven’t yet ordered the part. One of these days though. . .
Nice latte art
Yes, nicely done.
That’s fantastic! I am going to have to watch some YouTube to get my art game on.
Cheez, by the time a barista is done with some of these, the coffee will be cold!
In my case, this is assured.
It sure is taking ‘having a coffee’ to another level.
If the music plays until you are done one has incentive to finish quickly.
Great control of milk v foam.
Okay, if this is really the coffee thread , I need a recommendation for a grinder. Not a $3,000 grinder. Not a $1,000 grinder. Maybe not even a $500 grinder - but a grinder that works. For the last dozen years - maybe more! - I’ve been using a Hario manual grinder. Works well enough for me in terms of grinder performance, but it has gotten old, and frankly I’ll admit I’m tired of manual grinding. I’ve looked at the usual suspects (including Baratza), but I’m not liking the negative reviews I’m reading about all of these “few hundred dollar” jobs. Recommendations wanted, but the one thing I need to be sure it can do is grind directly into a Melitta #2 and a #4 filtered holder.
I’m not a coffee aficionado but this is what I ended up with. It has worked well for a few years now grinding 3 oz of beans every morning.
It might grind directly into a filter with a little bit of McGyver work but the catch cup works good too.
a few years back when I used to care about coffee and had more free time, I used a grinder that for sure was under $50. It grinded beans great and worked forever. I do not know what the big deal on expensive grinders is nowadays. This does not mean I do not believe them, I just do not understand them; just like my cables.
Hey, I’m with you on this. As long as it grinds consistently, isn’t made of static, and doesn’t fail on me in no time, any uber-bling is unnecessary (for me).
I’m pretty fond of this one. I don’t use the espresso adapter. I put a filter directy underneath for each pot (use a Bonivata 8 cup drip machine). I purchased both in 2017 and have had zero issues.
