How I tuned my amp for warmth and texture using Orea footers

Recently I replaced my trusty Adcom power amp with the Orchard Audio Starkrimson Ultra. Wonderful amplifier but I was surprised by how much my old amplifier had colored my system in the bass. I found myself wishing for just a touch of that warmth back.
I had been using three Orea Bordeaux footers under my 50 pound Adcom. My new amp weighs just over 17 pounds. Isoacoustics states that sonic performance suffers with with these feet when supporting lower weight.

When using these feet with this lighter load I found that the sound over the top warm but with delightful texture. It seems that the falloff in performance that Isoacoustics was referring in the low end of the chart to was manifested as warmth in my system. So I experimented with stacking weight (books) on the amplifier. The more weight I added the more the warmth was taken away.As I achieved the total weight in the 30lb range my amplifier was delivering just the right amount of warmth while leaving some of that wonderful texture. I’m a happy camper.

I’ve had a similar experience using Oreas to warm up the sound of my PSA M1200 mono amps. Furutech PowerFlux cables also helped.
