My Mk2 DAC crashed so I sent it to Jeff at APS to repair and upgrade. I am getting a Limited Edition Plus Mk2. I hear good things about the upgrade but it is not inexpensive. I am excited for it. The PMG is beyond my means but the fully upgraded Mk2 should be nice.
Based on what I’m hearing from my limited edition plus DSD MkI DAC, you won’t be disappointed.
What was the issue with the MK2? At any rate, maybe a blessing in disguise. APS works miracles.
The dac stopped making sound. The display lit up and the sample rate registered but no sound. I am getting my Mk2 upgraded to Limited Edition Plus. I am quite excited.
What connection were you using ? USB or I2S ?
I2S is the connection I use for the PST and AES/EBU for the streamer(Aries G2.1).
Is it possible that one or both of your dac inputs have failed ? I know for a fact that the usb input on my PS Audio MK 1 failed. I then switched to the I2S and it works flawlessly.
I don’t believe that the input on my Mk2 matters. Both the inputs I was using were both equally silent. I have faith in Jeff Richards that he will fix and modify my Mk2 to the point where I will be very happy. The mod work I’m having done is the same cost as the Mk2 itself. It will never be a PMG but it will be a lot closer.
After much discussion and soul searching I’ve decided to go with the Limited Edition Signature Plus Mk1. The logic behind my decision is that having the Reboot necessary every few days issues I decided to go with what is more robust with power issues. I am sure that I will be thrilled!
I hope you enjoy the MKI! The screen on the MKI is a deal breaker for me, but I understand that many were / are big fans of having the artwork displayed.
What is the issue with the screen on the MK1?
Just a personal preference. I have enough screens to stare at all day and don’t need one in my rack. Plus, I like the aesthetics of the MKII. I know that some have opined that the screen introduces more noise into the system - I don’t know about that.
I could never detect any difference in sound with the screen on, but always have it turned off any way.
I’m getting the Limited Edition Signature Version Mk1 in about a week and I am excited for it. I had a Mk2 with version 1 APS transformers but it shorted out. After much research and discussion I decided to go with the fully modified Mk1 which has more robust against power issues power supply. I had a version 1 APS transformers Mk1 DAC which I traded for the APS version 1 transformers Mk2. This time I decided to go with the more reliable DAC the Limited Edition Signature Version Mk1. I am excited for it.
I hooked up my new LESS+ Mk1 about 7 hours ago and the sound is amazing!
I’m now at 70 hours play and the sound is amazing. I’m getting a good wide and deep sound stage and the DAC will only improve over the next couple of weeks.
Somehow I get the impression that you are happy with your choice.

At hour 90 of play time on my DAC I am getting the best sound ever. The new upgraded Limited Edition Signature Series Plus Mk1 is one of the biggest upgrades to my system that I have made. I am very happy.
Since you have the MK1 upgrade, Have you tried the galvanic isolators (ground lift)? My unit has the XLR remote ground lift option. For me it opens up the staging a bit just like it does for the MK2.
