Innuos Philosophy

Being a Innuos owner I found this interview with Nuno Vitorino pretty useful to let all better understand how they work. Happy to share it with other members:

Luca, I really enjoyed this video. As an Innuos owner, I’ve been very pleased with my Innuos gear (including the Zen Mk3 server/streamer, PhoenixNet switch, and PhoenixUSB reclocker). I bet the Statement NG sounds even better, but my addition of Ethernet filters from Network Acoustics has already moved my streaming system into the “sounds great to me” range.

I also love the Sense 3.0 software Nuno talks about in the video. I know several audio dealers who use the Innuos software in their showrooms even though they also sell gear for use with Roon or other music-player software. I like the fact that the Innuos software team doesn’t just add features without listening first to make sure that the software optimizes the sound of the hardware.

Your replacement of the PhoenixNet switch with the the NA Tempus has made me reassess my choice of switches, but I’m trying to remember that “It’s not having what you want / It’s wanting what you’ve got” (to quote some great Sheryl Crow lyrics).

Right now, I’ve got my Zen on so I can rock on.

Completely agree with you, thanks for sharing your thoughts!

Let me say that next generation of Innuos products seems to be even more “future proof’ due to modularity:

  • you can change the output module (if you upgrade your DAC or DAC’s input)
  • you can add SSD drives to increase available storage capacity

Not to mention that MSB owners (like me) will appreciate also the ProISL (fiber) direct connection as output module, hopefully in 2025.

Sense App is really nice and I often suggested features on the “feedback forum” that I got realized later. Valuable service indeed. Did you already visit the new Innuos forum?

No, I haven’t visited the Innuos forum. I’ll have to take a look.

Amazing customer service
Was having some issues so Nuno set up 2 apponemts with me and redid some code etc to fix things
Another reason they are head and shoulders above Room which may have even worse customer service than Comcast/Xfinity
Yes Room wronged me and I hold a big grudge
I am aware you have to have an Innuos product to use the Sense App

Sounds like you got stuck in the wrong Room. :confounded::rofl:

Sense and Auralic Lightning crushing the blue Roon Van. :confounded:

I like Roon Eelco Grimm seems to have figured it out! I had no issues with Auralic Lightning I used it and enjoyed it. I never tried Innuos. Using the MU1 it wouldn’t make sense. :drum::rofl:

Sarcasm. I’m sitting around waiting for trick-or-treaters. Happy Halloween! :jack_o_lantern:

Sense was a game changer for me having both a ZENith Mk3 and a ZEN Mk3, it gets the fundamentals right, and dispenses of the nonsense. Innuos pre-Sense could be a challenge, and Roon was still evolving. Two different philosophies addressing slightly different needs. Best to enjoy what you have and not over think it.

In this regard I like so much Sense Feedback Zone website, where customers suggests upgrades features and Innuos priority is focused on the most popular requests:

Fairly transparent, IMO.

agree, but hard not to overthink or just become incredibly frustrated if you ever have to engage Roon support with an issue
