Well, I didn’t recommend a 50 mile training ride! Maybe a 1/2 hour sprint to feel free. :relaxed:

I couldn’t agree more!

reviving this, as I just finished a build of a Walter Croll track frame. Built it as a single speed, but I could put a fixed cog on the other side of the hub if I wanted.

Croll was a builder in Minneapolis, and I happened to meet him about 30 years ago when I worked at a downtown bookstore, and I delivered a book to what turned out to be his shop. Needless to say I didn’t hurry back to the bookstore.

I’m guessing this frame is from the early 90’s.

I have a blue brooks saddle on the way; this is just a cheapie WTB seat for now.

I adore old steel bikes. And especially touches like the Dura Ace cable clamps, which I never knew existed.

I’ve be contemplating what to do with this since I bought a new bike - wow - 14 years it’s been. I bought it while stationed in Rota Spain in the early 80’s. I don’t have the heart to part ways but don’t see myself restoring it.

Looks like it’s in perfect condition. What did you replace it with?

I still have the aluminum Trek road bike I used to do the Denver Post Ride the Rockies from Durango Colorado to Denver. Never use it much anymore, prefer to stay off road and ride my mountain bike.

The heads nut threads are stripped so it needs new forks. Other that there’s nothing wrong that a good cleaning up and new rubber wouldn’t take care of. I bought a Trek 7.3 FX hybrid that I commuted on for a couple of years until the job move 25 miles away.
