How long (time and/or distance) does the electric bike go between charges?
Itās a 1999 reproduction, I picked one up for me and one for my grandson we Cruise around when he comes over, a lot of fun.
Depends on the use and load.
Off road with climbs I can go for 2 hours and Iām beat. On the road it will do 40 miles no sweat.
It is a 52v 13.5ah pack. Total weight is 50lbs. But the weight is perfectly centered and low. 6ā travel on both ends!
Very cool. I would like to try one.
Mine is 4 years old, bolt on. Check out those with integrated packs and motor. Hard to tell them from non powered upon casual look.
If you have a donor bike the bolt on is still way less $ but certainly not a sleek.
Ahh . . . this is why you have some concern for the rear triangle.
Yes. Itās a stock bike and a very high current controller on the motor. I changed the drivetrain to heavier 8 speed from fragile 10 preemptively.
Looking at the gear ratio, you must be able to climb trees on that bike.
Road bikes are still very popular here and there are great spots to ride but Iām becoming increasingly fond of riding outside the roads. Now that the covid restrictions are over (for the time being) and the traffic is returning to normal Iām starting to realise how stressful it really is. We can also expect the private car numbers to go up as people will avoid public transportation for health reasons. Plus, all that sniffing of the exhaust fumes canāt be so good for oneās health.
Roads are way too dangerous here since addictive mobile devices reached the masses ~20 years ago. We desperately need driverless cars since we seemingly have it now with regular cars.
I did more than I could have ever imagined on road bikes. I donāt miss it nor can I tolerate the UV exposure any longer. Off road Iām covered up and much safer in all ways.
Yes, itās geared to climb. I run out of gear about 25mph/40kph
Best e-bikes Iāve ridden are the Specialized - they have integrated the motor boost so totally seamlessly that you will think you have 19-year-old legs again and that you are on a 20-lb. bike instead of almost 50-lbs.
Here even touching a mobile phone while driving is a serious offence but of course how can one possibly police that. Plus, if mobile phones are such a safety hazard, how about the touch screens that control everything? Menus after menus that you are supposed to navigate and click small buttons while driving. I definitely hope these things will go out of fashion soon. I also donāt want to think how they age.
I wouldnāt want to blame just drivers per se. The problem is that there is just too many of everybody on the roads and the infrastructure is not really designed to hold that many vehicles and fit in cyclist. I canāt really see how that can be fixed easily.
Went for a nice ride at the seaside this morning but itās about seven miles to get there and especially in the morning those are very stressful miles. Yet, I canāt get myself to drive there and then ride and drive back home.
I have never lived anywhere in the USA but based on my travels my impression is that Americans are quite polite drivers. Of course, politeness doesnāt help much if distracted by a phone and there is simply not enough space for the cyclists on the roads.
Road bikes are my world. I raced professionally in the early aughts, I guess as well as one could at the time without cheating. I spend my spare dough on audio, so my bike is nothinā exotic, just 5 year-old carbon Felt with Dura-Ace. I ride 3-4 days a week for exercise and joy.
Iām a full-time coach now. One of my athletes is racing the Vuelta this week, and on todayās stage youāll see big Ian Garrison on the front of the peloton for about 3 hours, pulling for his Deceuninck-Quick Step team to guarantee a sprint for Sam Bennett.
Nice to hear that you are coaching, our youngsters need mentors.
On a light note, I learned to crash without coaching.
I live in the US but Iāve ridden in Italy, Switzerland and France and as far as āpolitenessā goes, Iāve found that people are people as far as cyclists go.
Used to do couple 24 hr mtb races and rode all the time (mostly off-road, I wonāt call it mountain biking in MN but we have some cool trails and an IMBA Epic I think anyway, little bit road and cross/gravel) and dabbled in the mechanic arts (stress barely dabbled) but damn after kids everything changes.
Now my shop is overrun with crap and nothing gets ridden any more.
I figure when they go to college Iāll dive back in heavy. I was hoping one would be into riding but all they wanna do is play hockey! But thatās fun too!
Walls are Park Tool Blue, of course. MN Pride!
All those bikes could fund some audio gear
I kinda swing between hobbies. Bikes, audio, hockey, ā¦
Jack of all trades, master of none
Keep doing both!
I know but only so many hours in the day. Kids are at age where always running with/coaching them and wouldnāt trade it for anything!! Biking will be there for me when they go off to college. I gotta live this time with them to the fullest while it lasts!
