Yes, but you know the HF switching is there, and you can reduce it by pushing a button or setting a timeout. That’s one I’ll do for sure, no loss in not to me.
My first SACD player had a video off button, didn’t make a darn bit of difference.

I have heard differences in fuses and direction. I blew a SR Black and put in a AMR Gold, meh. Flipped it around, hey that’s not bad. I still like the Padis more and have a 2A coming for my pre. I’ve not cracked open the DS.
I find the same. Though I use the DS volume to shape the noise a bit, its tiny little differences when I’m listening for noise up close.
I have been really lucky (based on some posts) regarding noise. I could re-do experiments but basically with everything on and cranked I can’t hear anything. I have to turn it up and get my ear near the tweeter. I keep the DS at 95 (mostly as it’s as high as I can get and still have decent volume range on my Pre). On some sources “1” is a good back ground volume level. Most about 5 to 10 and 45 is BTO setting. Pre seems to tell me “the higher you get the more you’ll have to turn the knob to hear a difference”. A log scale of sorts which makes sense however my previous unit seemed more linear. 45-50 is as high as I feel comfortable and nothing seems stressed. Although the 250 gets pretty warm! probably 90s in the SPL range?
Sounds like the -20dB engaged would allow more range to be used on the pre, for you.
My speakers are 87dB and do fine with either DS gain setting. My quiet listening is 15-18 on the pre, no DS attenuator, up to high 70s and it’s shaking the structure.
BTO? Not Bachman-Turner Overdrive.
I would do fine with attenuator in but I’m thinking it is better out. According to pre mfg . 1 to 50 is fine. I’m not losing anything. And yes, BTO -blue collar, Allmans , to Keiko Matsui and Miles Davis. When i do a "session I’m all over the board.
Where do you buy the Padis fuses?
I presumed you had the BHK pre. What do you have?
I was after a BHK pre to complete the “trifecta” (I have the Jr and recently went from 700s to BHK250) but they had a run on them and I could not get one. So in the meantime I got a Cary SL-100. Well, the entire system sort of came alive with that. So while still contemplating a BHK pre, I came across a local one owner ARC tube pre. Now, I’m not sure the pain of selling the ARC and buying the BHK is worth the hassle. I could only hope the BHK sounds as good. I mean, it may sound better, but I’m not sure how. I would like to be 100% PSA. Maybe someday. Then add a P12 and speakers… Anyway, the system is sounding better than any system I have had so although I am a frequent flyer of sorts when it comes to hardware, I’m kinda nervous to mess with a good thing - if that makes sense.
Absolutely, why risk ruining a good thing only to begin again on the quest. Enjoy it!
Exactly. I am casually looking at a P12 or maybe the new Stellar re-gen. I don’t think I’ll need a huge power plant for a 250, a pre and a Jr. But for now I’ll just “Roll on Down the Highway”
LOL- Yep… Playlist last night…
Stillpoints Ultra 5 on bases (x4) underneath. HRS damping blocks (large size) (x3) on top. Furutech NCF Booster on Shunyata Sigma PC IEC.
Sublime
What in blazes is “BTO Spider”?
Discography I believe
If you’re tuned in enough, your components will tell you what they like. At least that’s what I imagine.
Well, after lots of experimenting, I’ve found that my regen likes VooDoo Iso pods best, DSD and BHK Pre like Oreas and the amp and DMP inexplicably like Tenderfeet best. And they’re all emphatic about their preferences. Go figure.
The real question is does your gear isolation preferences change with cable or power conditioning changes?
I was lucky enough to find a PSA PowerBase. Got that under the Jr now which are both on their own stand. Hopefully “double Isolation” does not rile the vibration Gods. I would think all = fine? Moved the EVAs under the 250 since they are rated for high weight anyway… Esthetics = excellent. My system was off for a week so still listening… Holy smokes the PowerBase is a lot heavier than I would of imagined!
