Magico Magic (and unrelated matters)

Any By-Our-Lady flavour coloured with chlorophyll rather than E142. There may be a tiny touch of grumpiness to this reply

Durian cheesecake?

OK, this was a tough one. Pandan cheese cake. Pretty good.

Today is officially written off. 2 hours of free flow J.P. Chenet Brut bubbly at breakfast took care of that. Not a bad drop at $10/bottle. Wobbly legs won’t be able to carry me to an afternoon of contemplation under the coconut palms on the beach. Downside of this part of the world is no bacon for breakfast, only the imitation fake beef stuff. Special mention for the oven fresh croissant with unsalted NZ butter and home made strawberry jam. So good I had to have two.

Some ways to tackle diffraction:

  • like Magico, no Schaep edges
  • or utilize technology that does not suffer from diffraction, like horn loudspeakers, I was in Stuttgart last year an had a chance to listen to these Avantgarde Acoustic UNO XD driven by an Octave tube amplifier. All German made, quite as selection of components in the octave might be Far East, but the transformers in the tube amp are wound fit to unit by Octave them self.
The SACD streamer combo is T+A, Herford Germany.

When I listened to those a found my benchmark. I will not stop saving, maybe little brothers of the UNO XD’s, a less expensive SACD/digital source, but those Octave amps are something.

Anyway, horn speakers may also be placed close to the wall and due to those closed cabinet 1000 W active base, DSP room optimized may be pleased even close to the side wall. The sound produced by the horns does not hit the speaker walls and cause diffraction.

hmmm, I’ll contemplate that whilst sipping on my Singapore Sling by the pool.

Food, the blessing and curse of traveling. I see it mostly as a blessing … noticeably

Quesadilla? A typical Asian lunch?

That was the best of all of them. Beef chorizo was a first, but bare in mind no pork anything here. Except in the jungle where wild boars roam.

That is not necessarily a bad thing, I like beef / chicken over pork.

I’m starting to see how people fall overboard…

I wish I had one of those special weather coconuts 30 years ago.

Two eye openers and an eye closer. But is the stem of the champagne glass straight? Maybe I’ve had too many eye closers and not enough eye openers. And it’s only breakfast.

It’s straight, we never measure it, but it’s straight, it must be your eyes

Oh, vision issues probably a symptom of thirst. I’d better get un-thirsty.

Two new Shunyata Sigma Clock-50 cables waiting for me when I get home. For future use, to connect Esoteric Grandioso D1X monoblock DAC’s to the master clock generator.
