MConnect Control App

Hello all,

I am having the same issue with mConnect, Tidal and 3.3.3 update as Jeff of Arabica, however mine is constant. I cannot get Tidal to play in any format and get the Notice Delay in Streaming or unsupported file format message. Everything, but MQA, works fine with Linn Kazoo and Tidal. I’ll try the suggestions, but if anyone has a clean solution, please let me know.

Thanks,

Arnie

Current set up is Synology NAs running Minumserver, BubbleuPnP, and Kazzo.

What version of mConnect do you have?

Dennis

Dennis,

I just downloaded mConnect yesterday, so I assume the latest. It should also be noted that I have tried this on a iPad and my Android phone with the same result.

On a slightly different topic, are there plans to have Tidal (with MQA unfolding) with controller like Kazoo, etc.

Thanks,

Arnie

Can you try the mConnect control app? It is free too.

As far as MQA unfolding with other controllers, it is up to the controller/server manufacturers. If they send unmodified audio to the bridge it will unfold, if the modify audio in any way it will not unfold.

Kazoo and Lumin work with Tidal (at least I can select MQA albums and I see the MQA logo in the playlist, so I assume that's what I'm getting) but BubbleUPnP Server limits Tidal to 16/44. So, as Dennis said, the issue is not the control point but the server. (Well, actually, BubbleUPnP Server isn't a server like MinimServer, but another layer for which I don't know the term.)

Dennis,

I miss spoke, I have been using mConnect Control. Tried both the standard and HD version to the same result.

Sorry for the confusion.

Then you are the second person with I know of with this issue. I’ll keep looking into it.

Dennis

Dennis make that three people with this problem. Just installed my bridge ii today, 3.3.3 huron, mconnect control and “delay in streaming or unsupported file format.” Roon is sounding great however-i am looking forward to the bridge update unfolding MQA through Roon.

I get the same error, always. Never plays. V2.3.4 mconnect Control on Android tables. I have selected Hifi/Master as the output.

I cannot reproduce this issue here or at home. I will check with converse digital to see if they have a fix.

Dennis

All,

Just to summarize the issue to date:

  1. Running Minumserver and BubbleuPnP

  2. Using mConnect Control on older iPad or MConnect Control in a Samsung S6

  3. Rebooted down both my router and iPad

Same result in all the above when accessing Tidal of all file formats. Note, I can play music from my NAS, FLAC up to 192/24 (Highest I have). Have not tried DSD.

Additionally, while running Minumserver, BubbleuPnP and Kazoo, can communicate with Tidal and play at 44/16.

Magister,

Since I believe you are running the same Minumserver, BubbleuPnP and Kazoo set that I am, could you try/have you tried using mConnect Control and to see if you get the same results.

The only other thing I can think of is to disable BubbleuPnP while I am running mConnect Control. I experiment with this this weekend.

Thanks and sorry for the long rambling post.

Arnie

As I posted earlier, I am one of those who get the “Delay in streaming or unsupported file format” when using mConnect Control.

Please let us know what happens when you turn off BubbleUPnP Server. It occurred to me that there might be some interaction between it and mControl but I don’t really know how these things work beneath the surface. If I have time I will also try mControl without Bubble UPnP Server running.

Hope that turning it off resolves it for you guys but while mine has been working (since Huron ?) I had many weeks in the past where I got that Delay message to the point I gave up on BridgeII, and have never used Bubble.

Hi Guys

I don’t know if this is the correct place to report it but down at my dealers I was giving my MQA enabled Bridge 2 on his Direct Stream a good working over.

First I tried the paid Mconnect player app and while it seemed to work OK it didn’t say if it was MQA or not. Had a look at the forum and found the recommendation to use the Mconnect control app. That fixed the issue - the MQA albums are all marked with M now. However what we found was only some of the MQA albums were actually decoded - at least we think that’s what is going on. The rest simply display 44.1 or 48k 24 bits.

Here are 3 it happens on:

Michael Buble - Nobody But Me

Michael Buble - Nobody But Me - Deluxe Edition

Dianna Krall - Stepping Out

I don’t know whats going on here - if it’s the Mconnect Control App, the MQA decoding in the bridge or even if its supposed to be like that ie its meant to be actually 48k 24 bits. Hopefully someone can shed some light on this.

Like I say I don’t know if this is the right place to post this so will post it also in the MQA section with some comments on what we think of MQA. As I said its at my dealers right now - I don’t want to install it in my system until its all sorted out. Will be heading down Monday for further listening etc and can report further then eg we have have Mconnect Control on both an Ipad and Android phone but was mostly using the Ipad - it may be OK on the Android - we will see.

Thanks

Bill

Then I got the same problems. First, it worked and played MQA. Now it only plays in flac.MConnect Control Iphone 6s

Strange - I’ve turned the DS off and on and now it works again !!! magic

It seems that a lost update 3.3.3 the numbers were not on the screen again before I reset DS

Well it seems others are getting thee same problem - it not really 44.1 24 bits but something wrong with the Bridge.

Will investigate further Monday to see if switching on and off etc does any good, how long it works for before it stops decoding and if using an apple or android makes any difference.

Like I said I want it all sorted at my dealers before getting it installed at home.

Thanks

Bill

Deleted.

I have posted on the progress of using MControl and MConnect apps (using IOS and 50mbps connection) here a few times and everything has settled down post upgrade (Huron + 3.3.3) until…

…using either of the these apps I have noticed with no other changes in the system that these apps can suddenly and without any notice drop MQA and revert to FLAC 24/48k. What happens is that the app no longer shows MQA as being “played” and the DS then shows FLAC and not MQA in the top centre of the screen.

Obviously I have done what any PS audiophile does under these conditions, namely drink the entire contents of my cocktail cupboard, kick solid furniture and howl at the neighbours. Normally I find that this logical process fixes everything everywhere for everybody, however the “M” apps are proving to be a little more tricky.

May I humbly suggest to the alumni of this parish that perhaps the “M” apps are starting to appear a little unstable? It looks as if our TIDAL/DS Huron/BridgeII systems are all going to be subject to the vagaries of the “M” apps. This would presumably be outside the direct influence of PS Audio. Keeping in mind that we are dealing only with the TIDAL and “M” apps without any OS/Windows input, it appears there are unknown to me influences coming and going to periodically affect what is being sent to the BridgeII.

Anyone…?

This is the answer I got from Converse Digital on the “delay in streaming…” issue:

"I think most cases of “delay in streaming…” errors are caused by network problem between the renderer and the server.

One user changed the LAN cable connected to PS Audio, and then confirmed all is working well.

For your information, Android OS blocks WiFi during sleep without power charging.

So sending music to a renderer with Android device will last about one hour, if the device is not charging.

And there is “Power save OFF” option in some Android devices.

A user has this issue."
