OK-well here’s an update for my issue with mcontrol. Apparently i can stream/play MP3 files, MP3, FLAC, AIFF files (some of them) off my home server. So far i can’t get any DSF files to stream (the same “Delay in streaming or unsupported file format.” message that i get when i try to play tidal files appears. What i do get to play sounds great (there might be something to Paul’s comment that it sounds better than Roon, i’m not sure-i’d really like to see what everything else sounds like) if anyone is having this issue or any other recommendations, i’m all ears
In mConnect Control HD select Bridge in ‘Play to’
select the astererix top left of the screen > Device setup > Bridge ;
Asterix > Cloud setup ;
Asterix > App info ;
,Press icon below asterix ;
In Tidal > Settings > select Hifi/Master ;
That’s all you can do in the mConnect app, you should be ready to go now. Select an mqa album and press the play symbol ;
(this one sounds very good btw) Hope this helps! If not it’s likely to doublecheck your network/firewall…
Happy listening
Jeff of Arabica saidI don’t agree that MQA is “just” a royalty generating mechanism. Certainly, it is a for-profit venture, just like any business. But beyond that, I have no intimate knowledge of the business practices behind MQA, and quite frankly, I don’t care. For me, it provides a service, and one that I value. Therefore I have no issue patronizing companies that adopt this technology.
And, while some may have the time/motivation/desire to jump through the hoops you mentioned in your last post to create an equal (or better) end product than an MQA stream, I do not. I have native DSD and other media/formats that I play for the highest digital quality - when quality is the priority. Lets not forget, MQA is still just a streaming protocol in which you cannot remove the value of convenience that many of us covet. So, when I want convenience, and access to massive amounts of music, I look to streaming. And for me, Tidal (and MQA) provides the highest quality level of this convenience - at least at the moment.
Of course my experimentation has zero practical value.
I just use it myself.
MQA via Tidal at the moment IMHO is my favorite option otherwise.
And yes - point taken - its not just a royalty generating mechanism. It does provide a genuine advance.
Thanks
Bill
Give Qobuz a try with BubbleUPnP or their app - it sounds better than Tidal to my ears, does not use MQA, and has a completely different catalog. They offer a high-bitrate streaming option, and automatically play the higher bitrate version when you play a track, unlike trying to find MQA versions on Tidal.
It’s really easy to get Qobuz in the US. You install/use VPN software (with a UK server, if you want English) when signing up, and use PayPal to pay for the service, so they don’t know you are in the US. Once you have the account, uninstall the VPN software, as you don’t need it for Qobuz streaming, and it reduces Internet performance. This should take maybe 10 Minutes start to finish.
I received my Bridge II Saturday and successfully installed it into my DS Sr. I had trouble at first getting the Bridge update until I realized that the DS had reverted to Yale during the installation process. I reinstalled Huron and all was well. Downloaded Mconnect Control HD and got it working maybe?
My purpose in purchasing the Bridge was to simplify my setup. I was using the Auralic Aries Mini as my streamer with A SSD for internal storage for my library. I moved the Mini to my speaker setup so as to stream to my big system. The hope was that the Mini would be accessible to the Bridge. An email to the service department gave me a maybe on that question. The answer is sometimes. At times the Mini will appear in the library section of Mhd and the it disappears the next time I open the Ipad. I don’t understand the intermittent nature of the access. I thought if access is available it would be all the time. I don’t know either whether this is a Bridge of Mconnect issue. Ideas?

EldRick, your method worked like a charm! Took less than 10 minutes to setup TunnelBear and sign up for Qobuz’s 15-day trial. Easy peezy!
But, as I later found, I can play Qobuz through my Mconnect Control app to my mobile device but when I try to send it to Bridge II, not supported. BubbleUp is the only way so far.
I signed up as well with no issues; and have to say that i prefer it over tidal for sound quality, even MQA as EldRick suggested. I like it so much that i paid for the HiRes subscription-which works amazingly well with the desktop app and my desktop DAC. Now on to sending it to the Bridge.
Anyone ever tried to use BubbleUPnP with OSX? Now i just need to figure out an easy way to do that short of buying a surface laptop
John Griffiths said Anyone ever tried to use BubbleUPnP with OSX?I assume you are talking about BubbleUPnP Server, not the Bubble UPnP control point. Downloads of the former are available for OS X here, so you should be good to go. The control point is Android only, AFAIK.
I have BubbleUPnP Server on my NAS and run Linn Kazoo as my control point on my iPad, and this works well. Kazoo has an option for Qobuz along with Tidal; I haven’t yet done the VNP thing to try Qobuz but it should work. Maybe someone can confirm.
magister: Thanks for the tip!
I’ve now got Bubble Server running on my Mac, connecting Kazoo on the Mac to Bubble on Samsung tablet - it plays Tidal FLAC, Qobuz Hi-Res, and my locally stored music from AssetUPnP.
My goal was to get a control point on my Mac for Bubble, and Linn Kazoo has a decent Mac UI for controlling BubbleUPnP running on the tablet (aside from the horrid volume control popup).
Hopefully someone has had this problem and can help me.
I downloaded MConnect Control to my tablet. When I select play to all I get is the Samsung tablet itself. No Bridge II appears.
I had a similar problem with J. River. Only when I connected an Ethernet cable to my PC would the Bridge II show in the play to list. It would not work with wireless. I am thinking I am having the same problem with MConnect.
I think I am either having problems with the router or with the DSJr. (bridge?). It just does not make sense to me why JRiver works with Ethernet connection, but not wireless.
The Bridge itself does not have wireless capability built in. It must be connected via Ethernet either directly to a computer or to a network switch (or router). You can control it wirelessly with a tablet once it is on the network.
Thanks for quickly replying Magister.
I got the tablet working with the internet (to download the app). How do I get it on the network? Are there firewall issues?
Slightly off topic …
I was playing with this App prior to the latest release(2.3.1 4th Aug 2017), and I could see the music on my win 10 PC and play to my iphone with no problem. Note I have no PSA products.
Since the update, I now see the following message:-
NOTICE
Please connect the MCONNECT
Compatible device to your
network
So if you had a plan like me, to use this to stream/send music to a DSJ, then that ability is no longer there.
I did email Convers Digital and their reply was working as designed …
Looking at their mconnect lite, I noticed an update saying '-DSD music playback by app. However, that does not seem to ‘see’ the .DSF files I have in that directory, which I thought it would.
Thanks

The Bridge 2 is an MConnect compatible device, so you can use MConnect Control to send music to the DS/DSJ. That is its purpose. Perhaps it is not bothering to connect to the server because it has no renderer to work with, or is connecting but the error message is blocking you from seeing it… My stuff is off line right now, but I will give it a try later to see if I can understand what is happening.

I think I can answer one of my own questions … ops brain fart …
The Bridge cannot accept Native DSD streams. DSD files have to be wrapped as DoP files
So that explains why you can’t stream using the app using .dsf file, just convert to say FLAC, LOL
I’ll write my lines out later
The server software should take care of the DoP wrapping. What are you using? Minimserver, for example, needs to be told to send DSF files as DoP.
Deanhorn saidI got the tablet working with the internet (to download the app). How do I get it on the network? Are there firewall issues?
The router provided by your ISP usually generates a Wi-Fi signal. I assume that’s how you got your tablet to connect to the Internet.
The issue then becomes how to get the Bridge onto the network. If the router were in the same room as the Bridge, you would simply connect the two with an ethernet cable. But I assume the router is not there. If it’s convenient, you can run a cable from your listening room to the router.
If not, you need to find some other solutions. I haven’t had to deal with this myself, since I have a wired connection in my listening room. I believe there are things called network access points that will take a Wi-Fi signal and feed it into an ethernet cable. Others on this forum have probably dealt with this and can provide more details. Hope this helps.
Jeff of Arabica saidSo, I downloaded the Android version of the Control app on my Onkyo DP-X1 to give it a whirl. Got the same “Notice” complaining that there is a “Delay in streaming or unsupported file format” causing the music to halt. Sooooo… This problem is certainly not isolated to iOS devices.
That’s right. I faced this issue on Android. Could you tell me how you solved it? Thanks in advance
It is not solved on Android as far as I can tell. In my experience, the mconnect apps are pretty unstable with Bridge II firmware v3.3.3. Hope ConversDigital issues a firmware update and/or app updates soon.
What to me is so strange is I had your symptoms back in 2015 and gave up trying to resolve but now with 333 it’s been working.
