MP transport light.

Hello forum.

I’m in the burn in process of my newly acquired DS dac and MP transport. Last evening I noticed in my darkened listening room that there was some flickering light that was very noticeable coming from the slot of the MP’s upper drawer area. My question would be,is this normal to see this light flickering, and if not,can it be remedied in some fashion? It does bother me somewhat,I guess that I am sensitive to this…seeing it takes away from the darkened room listening experience.

Thanks for any replies.

What is a MP transport?

You are probably seeing a circuit board LED. You could open the unit up and block the light with tape, a bit of paper, or LightDims (click).

I assume he means Memory Player. Better known to us old-timers as PerfectWave Transport. Could it be the laser reading the disc?

It’s the light from the candle the PS Audio genie carries. It’s a little dark in there, after all, and we wouldn’t want the genie to trip over something. You didn’t think the magic sound of the PWT came from cold, sterile electronics, did you?

Thanks Elk. I would say that looks about right. It does rise and lower in intensity.

How do you open up the lid of the MP… or for you old timers…the PWT?

Of course! The abbreviation confused me.

The player opens like the DAC. Look up the instructions for converting a PerfectWave to a DirectStream and you will see how to do it. It is easy once you know the trick.
