The Estelon Forza’s at Axpona were in a huge room and holy moly did they sound top to bottom seamless. Vivid seamless almost.
Yes, maybe that’s the secret…they should have a huge room…certainly a factor not present at most shows (and homes ) But I admit I’m definitely very picky about seamlessness.
I like the sound and looks of both the Estelons and Vivids that I have heard. The FR30’s are not a look to die for but they exceeded quite well in reducing forward-facing area while letting the cabinet depth do the heavy lifting. And speaking of lifting, the stands are one of the best, providing rock-solid but easy adjustment while letting the speaker visually float above it. Sure, the proof of the pudding is in the taste, but give me a great looking and great tasting cake.
I was a bit on the FR30’s aesthetics at first. The more pictures I see of them in the wild (set up at dealers and in customer’s homes), the more I like them.
Even though I have not seen them displayed with “grills” on; I am guessing they will, depending on the room aesthetic, blend in and look quite nice in many a room.
By the by, now that you have some miles on your FR30’s, does anything about their performance particularly continue to strike you at this point?
Regards.
For me the FR-30 would have looked better if the top surface was curved like the bottom. They are too big to be in my future but they seem to be a sound bargain at their price point. Bravo PSA.
From some of Paul’s posts, it looks like the FR20 is in development. Hopefully they will be a fit for those of us with smaller spaces.
Aries Cerat speakers have no chance going into any room of my house. My daughter could not stop laughing after seeing the picture without me even mentioning the price.
On the other hand, we both think RF30 looks much better.
I have to agree with Baldy that the FR30 might have had a more balanced look with a rounded top as well. I do feel, however, they are better looking than 98% of what is out there and the fit and finish are as good or better than anything in their price class. I saw and heard early iterations of this speaker and they have come a very long way in all the categories.
If I switch speakers, then FR30 will be in my top audition list. Once my daughter is out of college then it will be a real possibility
After some time with the FR30’s the most striking characteristic is they just get out of the way and flow with the music. Previous speakers could have great detail ( stats, planars) but lack an octave of bass with limited dynamics. Cone systems had dynamics but were hardly seamless. I think I have the best of both worlds. The downside is now I can’t blame the speaker as the culprit. Got to get better gear, cables, fuses! Madness but fun.
Excellent take/description…
Enjoy and thanks for the response.

@jazznut, do you know what LP record that is in the last picture in your post? The cover looks interesting. Thanks!
Yes, I took a notice of that one as it had good sound. From track 6 on there are some nice tracks among the second half.
Thanks! Much appreciated.
If cost was no object for me I’d consider the Estelon Forza, or I’d get a Rel Six pack Reference 25 for my CLXs
