I have found that the percentage principle only applies to those who don’t believe cables make a difference. I wish I was one of them. The cables I have purchased for my Grimm MU1 exceed the cost of the Grimm. If you are a cables don’t help believer, enjoy this as much as you can. I don’t believe in you.
Of course I am a believer. That is why I am at 80% now. The Dragon flock, Shunyata Omega, and Iconoclasts have made as much improvement as any gear in my system. When my Nvidia stock goes up to 1000/share, I will switch everything to Stealth v18😆
Hopefully you have no REITs!
It’s good that there are enough people of the same faith here in the forum. My friends don’t understand that the cables can cost more than whole music systems. Perhaps in the zeal for the desired sound result one loses touch with reality. Expensive cables on a cheap device sound fantastic. And then comes the spiral. Better devices and even better cables… I’m in a merry-go-round.
I’ve had a 1:1 ratio before. It was short-lived. Shortly after the purchase, the dealer said to me “If you now have even better components…” and you remember this 10-20% rule and are ready to exchange your components for higher-quality ones. Then the question comes up again. What if I now connect even better cables. Oh yes, completely forgot that the fuses in between are also upgraded. I only stayed with the provider model for the Internet modem. The router runs on a linear power supply and an Audioquest Hurricane source. I still see a gap in the market for audiophiles.
Greetings Andrew
Given a specific speaker cable that one cherishes, remember, the speakers should be internally wired with the same stuff! When we talk about cable costing even as much as tens of grands, this shouldn’t be a financial issue. Voiding the speaker’s warranty perhaps… But that’s little, who’d want to bottleneck a helium-filled supercable with some comparably mediocre wire found inside the majority of even the best of speakers?
I agree. Many high-end speakers have inferior cables, capacitors, inductors, and resistors internally. I built my speakers myself. Only high-quality MKP capacitors were used, no electrolytic capacitors. No core coils. Copper foil coils only. Pure copper solid core cable. Loudspeakers can often be significantly upgraded later with better components. A better condenser for the treble and midrange are crucial for the sound. Website Humboldt Toni Gee capacitor test is very insightful. The tweeter capacitor can be inexpensively upgraded with a bypass capacitor from duelund. The silver bypass made even a Mundorf silver gold oil cap much smoother and more detailed. Greetings Andrew
