Perhaps they decided to just sell equipment via telekinesis.
IMHO, for that kind of money you could get something like this
plus a cart and maybe even a second arm. A better table, IMO.
I have no affiliation with nor do I know the seller.
What could go wrong?
Thanks, that looks awesome, but I am not in the market for a turntable at the moment. I posted Needle Doctorâs most expensive turntable as a goof. I hope the company is alright, but recent reports make the prospect of buying anything from them seem like a crap shoot at best.
I checked and it didnât look like it ever went down. Looks like they may have been forced to close and never got around to shutting down the website. Wonder how many people have been burned putting orders in. Not goodâŚ
"âAfter 40 years, The Needle Doctor is closing its doors, effective immediately. We are incredibly grateful for the support youâve shown us, both locally in the Twin Cities and globally. What started as a tiny little shop on the University of Minnesota campus grew into a world-wide analog haven. The staff was never larger than 10 or so people, which should say all that needs to be said about the work ethic of those that wore the hat. Customer service was always the centerpiece; whether it was helping music lovers solve problems, helping seasoned vets take the next step with their system, or helping grandparents find a flip-over needle for their console stereo. Every day was an adventure. We hope that our love for analog and our friendly service set us apart from the rest. With that, one last thank you to everyone whoâs been a part of this journey. Itâs been a pleasure. The Needle Doctor is dead. Long live The Needle Doctor.â
The site is up, and to a pint, functional. I say that because it would not allow me to add products to the shopping cart. Maybe itâs a temporary closure, and there is a reorganization going on?/. Sure wish we had info from Jerry Raskin himself. I hope he didnât die suddenly.
I just tried to add product to their siteâs shopping cart, and it wouldnât let me, so apparently the shopping cart has been deactivated. Maybe this is a temporary closure.
The shopping cart was deactivated when I just went on their site.
Maybe Paul can put out feelers to his industry friends.
The site would not let me add anything to the shopping cart.
Businesses can truly work their way into the fabric of our lives. And when theyâre gone, they leave a surprisingly impossible hole.
When Mandolin Brothersâ Stan Jay died, the business just evaporated. The kids didnât want it. They didnât have Stanâs passion and nothing could save it. The legend, the icon just faded quickly away.
That little corner of life was way better when they still existed.
The answer is in post 25, they are done. 40 years is a long run in this business for a single owner operation.
I will, but to the best of my knowledge they are gone.
Iâm also in the Twin Cities, and have purchased a few minor things there. But Iâll try to get over to that neck of the woods and report what I see.
I just went on their website, and the shopping cart has been reactivated. I am not gonna place the order, but it makes me wonder what is going on. I sure wish an official spokesman for the company would release a statement.
Iâm with @tarheelneil, I was able to load up a cart. Didnât checkout, just loaded a cart.
And yet, last night, I could not put anything onto the cart. So, obviously, someone is doing something to the website. The question is: exactly what, and exactly why?
They also stopped posting on Facebook in mid-September.
Hey Folks:
Here is a more complete story on what happened from one of the local business journals in the Minneapolis area. Looks like Jerry has battled tounge cancer for a while.
