New BHK 600?

He mentioned the tubes including a rectifier tube. Said the components in the 600 are higher quality and it has a much larger power supply. Darren’s words it sounds much better than the 250 and 300.

well, hopefully it comes out this year.

I am still torn between going Integrated or staying separates. The 300’s are so tempting.

Since the 600 was his last project, does that mean he didn’t get far enough along in designing or prototyping so that we will not get a BHK phono pre? I love the products he made with PS Audio.

This is Bascom’s last design. Sounds like him and Bob Stadtherr have the BHK 600 completed. I don’t think there ever was going to be a BHK Phono preamp. There is a Perfectwave phono that is close to completion according to @DarrenMyers. I’m sure both the BHK 600 and the Perfectwave phono will be something special!

The BHK 600 gets mentioned about an hour and seven minutes into the podcast.

Sure would be nice to see D&D index their podcasts, as they can be a bit long winded for my taste.

PS Audio Newsletter has a BHK 600 sneak peek

Sneak peek

It’s been some time since I’ve shared with you a sneak peek of what’s soon to come. Now it’s time.

You’re getting your first look at the most exciting new power amplifier we have ever built. The mighty BHK600, the last product designed and blessed by the late Bascom H. King.

This amplifier is by one heck of a magnitude the best amplifier I have ever had the pleasure of listening to. In Music Room 2 it has replaced the venerable BHK300s.

Here’s a list of its features:

  • 1.6KVA power transformer for the output stage (50% more than M300)
  • Over 300,000uF capacitance for power supply (Double M300)
  • Tube rectifier for improved sonic performance
  • 50% more output MOSFETS for improved damping factor.
  • Bus bars on output MOSFETS for best power delivery
  • Separate transformer and power supply for tube gain stage
  • P20 chassis for better cooling and higher class A bias
  • Microprocessor monitoring of power supplies and bias levels
  • 110 pounds guaranteed to stay put during F3 tornado

Projected retail price is $32,500 the pair.

There’s a lot of competition at this level, I am looking forward to reading reviews and comparisons to other products.

I thought they were gonna be $23k?

I’m trying to figure out at what point did this goofball that spent 14k on speakers about 4 years ago get priced out of the market ? I missed the memo.

That was probably before parts availability issues, rises costs due to shipping and gas skyrocketed since the original announcement. It’s close they just swapped the 2 and 3. Was $23k now $32k

Yeah, it’s interesting. Threads on other forums discussing cost increases. Many brands up 5-10%, 20%. 50% is a lot. But if the market will bear it more power to them I guess.

Luxman just released the M10x power amp at same msrp ($20k) of the amp it replaced, m900u, so it isn’t universal. But certainly prices have risen on most products. dCS dacs jumped a lot, especially Bartok.

It’s all interesting (not a criticism- just was surprised)

To be fair…the m900u retailed for 15k new. Used now seems to be hovering around the 9 to 9.5 k in excellent condition! Hmm…

It was released 8-10 years ago at $15k, but over that period towards end was msrp $20k if I’m not mistaken. I’m not positive tho

You have it backwards…Initially it was 20 then was lowered to 15. The original importer was price gouging in the USA until Luxman found their current distributor.

Oh, ok. Fair enough.

That’s even more impressive on Luxman’s part then

Wouldn’t that have been great? There was never a chance we would hit that number, not with all that’s in these beasts. We’ve never built anything like this. Amazing.

Maybe BHK 300 owners will get $15k trade in value towards these warlocks. That would be great! Lol
