WOW!---->BHK 600s---<

With PSA sort of running out of these, I found a used pair at The Music Room in NW Denver… Packed 3 pairs of surplus monoamps in the Explorer, drove up Thursday, did our business Friday morn., and drove home Friday…29 hours in two days.

TY Paul for your accurate description of the sonic differences between the '300s and the '600s, and TYVM Bascom (RIP), Paul, and everyone else who helped create and get these to market.

The music from my Sound Lab Majestic 745s is…er…majestic–richer and more natural…real…sounding than ever, with EXCELLENT rez, soundstage, impact, etc…finally.

PS. Would someone pls tell me how to remove the lids of these things?

What are the wooden boxes sitting on top of the amps?

VPI Magic Bricks. They have laminated cores that you are supposed to place over the transformers in the amp. They are heavy and also supply mass loading. If the internal layout of the 600 is like the 250 and 300 they would be best placed toward the front a couple inches back from the front panel of the amp.

Thanks. Just adjusted the Shakti stone on top of my 250.

I never took the lid off of the BHK 600’s, so I can’t help you there. However, after owning the BHK 250 and BHK 300’s, these amps are in a different class. They share a certain sonic family resemblance, but it ends there. The way these amps control the speaker with seemingly limitless energy, yet do it without harshness, is really something. Instruments sound natural and occupy a well defined space.
There is a lot of good stuff out there, and I have heard other similarly priced amps from MSB and Pass. Nothing has subsequently moved the needle. Happy listening!

I have a pair of the magic bricks. I had them on my M1200’s and my BHK 300’s. I’m not sure I heard any magic from using them. They were cast aside when I got the Diablo 300 and I recently found a use for them as damper’s for my NAS and Ethernet switch.

I have three Magic Bricks. I use one on top of my VPI SDS and one on my Stellar Phono Preamp. I am currently not using the third. I won’t put then on top of the painted top covers on any of my other PS Audio Components. I feel the mass loading benefits the phono preamp and the lamitated cores help to absorb any noise created in the SDS.

Nice going, Jeffrey! Congrats. I would not remove the lid.

Good advice. May PS Audio can offer a clear top so people can see what’s going on inside. Lol

I suggested that to the boys at PSA that they show the innards of the BHK 600’s at AXPONA.
Not that you should purchase an amp by the pound, but all that storage and delivery does make a difference.

A stethoscope for singing electrons, maybe?

Infigo Audio does just that, clear top and solid top both come with their amps.

I’m all good until @aangen talks me into buying more gear, or stealth RCA interconnect.

If you don’t own Grimm, Gryphon, or Stealth than you haven’t bought anything @aangen recommended yet. lol

Nothing new there as Klyne has been on to it for quite some time.
