John Fox saidJohn Fox, you may have already found your answers. The issues you are experiencing are well known. See Ted’s discussion of the DSD crackling and this thread for the skipping (assuming you’re using JRiver).I’ve upgraded to the latest bridge software on my DSJ and noticed a few issues when playing back dsf files over DLNA using the mcontrol app.
I too have been unable to upgrade,it says up to date and there is no option to upgrade…it works flawlessly with my Roon right now but I am one who always wants to be up to date!..it ultimately did upgrade and all seems to be working well although I too heard the popping noise through my speakers because I was dumb enough to forget to turn off my amp…all seems fine though…
I had that problem on the senior until I read a post that suggested to remove the SD card and reboot. I did that and the update flag popped up straight away.
Exactly what I did.
Since updating to 3.5.1, it seems that I have even more issues playing DSD files than previously. For quite some time now, I have had issues with DSD files not playing when selected (e.g.: when I select a track, say track no. 1, the next track plays - i.e. track no. 2, and I’ll have to select the track I want to play repeatedly until it finally plays). Also, there is a very long delay before a DSD track will play. It seems this problem is even worse now that I’ve updated. Additionally, once a DSD track starts playing, it may abruptly stop playing a minute or so into the track.
Anyone else experience this type of thing?
Yes, recently I have been having all of the same problems as you describe. I use J. River as my media server.
And yesterday, I had a 96/24 track stop playing after about a minute.
Deanhorn,
Have you updated to the 3.5.1 bridge2 firmware? Have you noticed things getting any worse since upgrading? As I said, I’ve had these issues before, but it seems much worse since the upgrade.
Timequest,
Yes, I have updated the bridge to the latest firmware.(3.5.1).
I played with it some more tonight and the only problem I had was the long delay when going to another DSD track a few tracks down in the list. And I did not have this problem with the other bridge firmware updates. I have some MQA files, so I don’t want to go back to a previous version.
Have you switched the unit off from the power switch on the back? That may help some.
