Even worse, you now have to figure out which of the many editions, pressings, versions you want to replace it.

It sucks. I know it’s in here. I just have to dig and dig and dig.

A Christmas miracle: I found it this morning! And it sounds glorious…

Was it in your sock placed next to your fireplace?

Fireplace? What's that? We don't have many of those in South Florida.

The Miles SACD was in a box I had packed and forgotten about…

Neglected by Santa - what a shame

Why are there so few posts? I am wondering how many units have shopped.

They just went out in roughly the last two weeks. With holiday schedules, etc. it will take a bit of time before people get to play with their new toy.

My-Highend has reviewed the DMP: http://my-hiend.com/wp/%e9%87%8d%e6%96%b0%e6%8c%96%e6%8e%98%e5%94%b1%e7%89%87%e6%84%9f%e5%8b%95-ps-audio-directstream-memory-player-sacdcd-%e8%bd%89%e7%9b%a4/

Thanks! A very good review.

In addition to your other accomplishments, Elk, you read Chinese? I am impressed. (If there is a link to an English version, it’s not visible on my iPad.)

Ditto

Use Chrome as your browser and there’s an auto translate button always. If you’re not using Chrome, you should be,

Doesn’t work so good for those using an iPad. Yes there is a Chrome app but I tried it a while ago and it was nothing but a problem.

Here’s the first industry review of DMP in English I’ve seen from Theaterbyte.com:

Nice review, though it doesn’t sound like they used all varieties of discs (no mention of DVD-A). Interesting thing, the webpage had a Google bar at the top for translating, not sure if it was in English originally, but that translate bar would have been nice for the my-hiend review!

A very minor issue I noticed on the DMP.

I used the repeat function to play one track of a CD.
After finishing with that disc I put in a disc of the Shostakovitch 4th symphony.
After the first movement, something seemed wrong. Took me a while to realize that the 1st movement had restarted.

Turns out that the DMP will not clear any repeat settings when a new disc is inserted.
I believe the PWT will clear the repeat setting and that is what I would expect.
Is this behavior by choice or an oversight?

Neat.

I like Firefox as it is descended from Netscape, the original browser. (I was on the Internet long before browsers existed, text only, monochrome, only academics on-line.)

I also would expect the repeat settings to clear with a new disc. I suppose an argument could be made for the reverse. But in either case, this needs to go in the manual along with an explanation of the various on-screen symbols for repeat or randomize.

OK, just some initial comments on functionality issues with DMP/DSJ:

  1. If you change the DMP configuration settings via the webUI then “save config”, whilst the DMP is initialising you get this wretched sound like an alien spaceship coming in to land. If your amp is turned on when you save the configuration you’re at risk of saying goodbye to the tweeters in your speakers, they’ll be launched into orbit from whence that alien spaceship just came. You don’t get this noise during a normal power on initialisation, only when rebooted via the webUI.

  2. DMP is registered in MyPS, SD card is installed but on the touchscreen display it’s showing no SD card installed.

  3. The DMP does not respond to any of the Transport buttons on the DSJ remote control.

  4. I can see a small insect laying deceased in the bottom of the PS Audio logo power button. How to open the button so I can extract said deceased insect?

  5. Operation of the touchscreen is flakey, touch buttons don’t work, then they do work, or pages hang after touching a button. I’m guessing there are some memory intensive processes going on inside the gizzards of the machine which need to run before it will free up operation of the touchscreen.

  6. Operation of the dim button on the remote is whacky. Each time you push it the display on the DSJ will quickly cycle off/on without changing brightness, the display on the DMP doesn’t change brightness at all, until the 5th time you push it the DMP display will go off and you can’t turn it back on again…update…the display can be turned on again by pushing the PS logo button for 3 seconds, but when the display comes back on none of the touch buttons work, and after a further 3 seconds the display goes off again.

2 hours later…

I give up. This thing is driving me to frustration, it is just sucking all the enjoyment out of what should be an enjoyable listening experience. It has a mind of its own and for its punishment it’s going back into the box. Obviously that dead insect is wrecking havoc with the operation of my DMP. I’m going back to my music server which is dead insect free and has controls that actually work.

I changed my brightness on DMP via the touchscreen, under settings - worked ok.

SD card is inserted in DMP the opposite way to the other PS Audio products! Pins down not up (or other way, I can’t remember right now) so check that.

Mine is functionally working, including basic commands via touchscreen however it is not as well developed as the PWT. I hope that the UI and remote functions improve with updates. perhaps your DMP needs to be replaced.

My DMP is functionally not working, and tonight I’m enjoying listening to Spotify on my PS4 which sounds quite good through the DSJ. If I press play/pause/stop on anything with play/pause/stop buttons I expect it to play/pause/stop first time every time. DMP doesn’t. My short time with DMP is over for now. It can relax in the store room until the next software update gets posted, then I’ll give it another try.

I have not had the flurry of operational issues you are having. . . something may be amiss.
