New FR5 owner

Hello all! Long time lurker, first time poster

I just got my FR5s up and going last weekend and so far I’m uber impressed! After getting them set up and playing, I was picking up the boxes and stuff and I sat down and was immediately shocked at the sound stage these little guys were throwing out!! Now the reason I was so shocked is the left one was pointing forward and about 3’ off the back wall while the right one was pointing past my seating (I could easily see the outside of the cabinet) and about a foot off the back wall. I had to laugh a minute while thinking “gosh I’ll bet it’s even better when I actually place these correctly!”

Well, I’ve since placed them in a very uniform manner, equal triangle and distances from the back/side walls. I’m still super shocked on how wide/huge and detailed the sound stage is! I’ve only got a few hours on them so I’ve got a ways to go in the burn in process and I’ll play around with placement more then.

Currently the room they’re in is 15.8’ x 14.5 x 9’ceiling and they’re on the long wall. I’m really liking their sound and look forward to see what they do after some time.

Just kidding - but boy are my OCD tendencies “twitching”.

Nice! I hear very good things about the FR-5’s! I am looking at upgrading as well and have been pretty set on Goldenear Triton 2+'s or Triton Ones, but the form factor, and reviews, have me looking at the FR-5’s as well.

Yeah, I’m with you. However the power cords plug in on the amp and streamer align perfectly to the right bar on the back of the shelf. I’m going to grab a different rack soon!

Depending on the room, you’ll get better bass with the Tritons (for obvious reasons) but I like the midrange/tweeter of these FR5s much better. Not to mention, even in my limited time with these new ones and in my set up, the bass is pretty solid down to the low 40s and will probably go lower once I get some hours on them
