Those look simple enough to use and are certainly inexpensive. Note that I believe a Cat 7 or Cat 8 cable would require metallic side pieces and not plastic but for Cat 5e/Cat6 as stated, bingo!
Yep - enterprise data center ones - had a box from his previous role..
My plan is to have a play work out which of these options / switches / Optics work
and on both sides of the new switch (2.5g data or 1.25 Audio quiet zone) and lay this one to bed.
To be legal perhaps metal is required. But in a pinch, to add back a locking tab where one has been sadly removed, these will accomplish that. They have for me.
For sure. I think it’s a technical reason and I’m probably preaching to the choir. The wires are attached to the form the ground. So I guess it is legal in that sense, it’s one of the ways Cat 7 and 8 are different from the previous categories.
That makes perfect sense to me. Thank you!
You’re welcome. It looks like they have replacement casings for Cat 7 (and I guess it’d work for 8, too) but because of the grounding requirement it is not so simple and requires a crimping tool to attach the wires. plus, it’s for 23 AWG wires and not 24 AWG.
The rumor is confirmed. The new SW-10Pro will be released this week by Beatechnik. This is a groundbreaking, single device that has internal fiber optic isolation according to Alvin (the confirmed part). No need for FO converter or two switches anymore.
The question is what will be the difference between SW-10Pro and AS-8 other than two extra connections? Most will not need 10, or even 8.
I look forward to hearing more
wonder if this is redundant if one has the AirLens, which uses air for galvanic isolation
A 5-port equivalent sure would be nice.
A wise man once said that there are never enough of noise isolation devices and filters in the streaming chain.
Wait, was @luca.pelliccioli actually saying that?
For those of whom this is of interest:
(and it is at this point in the conversation)
Vid is in Dutch, so please use subtitles for all other languages.
I just mentioned what Scott Berry (CAD’s founder) once told me…
It is interesting that Scott told me much the same at Axpona. However, he was not fond of “in-air” noise reducers like the Schnerzinger Grid Protector. He did not elaborate.
I would contend there are inline and airborne gremlins to deal with but we must leave it to the experts to find solutions.
I think mine landed yesterday but I’ve been too busy to even unpack it (from Hong Kong, so must be it). Off to take an appendix out now… HiFi must wait….
I hope everything comes out okay!!!
tariff impact?
Zero; nothing .. not even good and serviced tax on the import but i am Lucky i am located in Australia and we aren’t playing those games ..
