hi Elk, many years ago i saw a book titled something like:
“the american consumer: they want it today, they want it perfect, and they want it for free”
Being in retail i encounter this mentality almost every day.

pardon the political comment here, but we can thank postmaster Dejoy for that mess.
Not really a political comment when it is one of those pesky Facts.
On a slightly different note, it would be great to see PS record the great Americana group Donna The Buffalo. and locally we have two great artists that do some really fine music. Bruce Piephoff and Scott Sawyer (who is our Bill Frisell)
That nasty little bulldog lives about 10 minutes from me in a 15,000 sq foot mansion. i was one of the people who protested at his home a few months back.
Carol King…yeah, I can see (hear) that. She reminded me a bit of Jennifer Warnes. There was a time when most audiophiles I knew just had to have a copy of Famous Blue Raincoat.

What memories, what memories. I never had a copy of Famous Blue Raincoat, but I sure bought my share of copies of Tapestry!
Otis Taylor is a GREAT choice! A fantastic artist and person.
My copy arrived yesterday. This was faster than the last time. Unfortunately my retirement is always taking a back seat to work. I just dropped it in the spinner. So far so good. Sounds very nicely done. I wish that the data disk was included. That was the big disappointment.
Yas it is disappointment that data disk is not there this time. Is it by design ?
I can rip the CD layer from the disk. But I cannot get the DSD file ripped.
Does one has to spend another $29 to get the data files ?

Sourav
Since they are now two separate products on the listing it would appear to be by design. Not sure why you would need both if you have the gear to play the SACD. If not the downloads would have been the better option.
I rip the SACD and stream via ROON
How do you rip the SACD?
I’ve noticed a couple of things about Temporary Circumstances:
1 - the vocal mics buzz (very noticeable on tracks such as Temporary Circumstances)
2 - the vocals and general volume level gets louder from about Long Gone
Have others noticed these things?.
What a great recording! Perfect tonal balance (at least to my ears), gorgeous melodies… The voices sound beautifully natural. But there’s one thing I don’t understand. I took my phone with a spectrum analyser app to see what the frequency spectrum looks like, and I saw a very narrow, steady peak just below 20 kHz (ca. -40dB below other instruments and voices) that always appeared just before the singer started to sing and disappeared temporarily during instrumental bridges. It was there regardless of the file format (DSD / WAV), sampling frequency and player type (Denon CD/USB player / Windows PC). I’m not saying I can hear that tone. Not at all. I’m just curiuos why it is there… Can anybody explain? Thanks.
Welcome, Brano_O!
An interesting observation. I am now curious as well.
I had exactly the same thing a few weeks ago, i.e. I could hear the singer’s mics being brought in or faded out. Now I can’t hear it but it was very obvious a few weeks ago. Very strange.
Hi, it’s really strange that you were able to hear it and then later you weren’t.
I didn’t want to act like a nitpicker, I actually like the album. As I mentioned, I couldn’t hear it (I can’t hear anything above 13K) but it really surprised me when I pointed my phone’s mic at the tweeter… During the piano intro, there was nothing visible above 10kHz. Then, a second or two before Jessica started to sing, a clear peak at 18 or 19 kHz appeared. After an instrumental part began, the peak disappeared. Then it appeared again just before she started to sing again. I’m still hoping to get some technical explanation… Anyway, I’m a big fan of PS Audio, I love their enthusiasm.
I’m new to the forum, so this is super late. Send me an email and I will send you my lyrics clandestineamigo@gmail.com
Welcome, Jessica!
