New P10 display screen varying brightness?

hi All,

i have a new P10 that powers a pair of S300 mono-blocks and a pair of Quad2905 electrostatic speakers. I often notice that the P10 display screen varies in its brightness in operation(rather like my PWT screen does when it re-reads sections of a disc) Is this normal? Mostly I have the display switched off but it is very noticeable when the display is on.

Any thoughts? Cheers. Frank

If the P10 screen dimming works like the PWT, you can set it to either a fixed level or auto-dim in the setup. You can access the setup by touching the PS Audio logo on the screen during initial power up, and then change the display setting to your liking. Hope this helps!

Hi Audio.bill,

thank you for the information on dimming the display, helpful however that isn’t what my inquiry is about. The display brightness varies I.e gets brighter and dimmer when the P10 is in operation - I’m wondering whether this is normal, do other owners see this? Seems weird to me.

Had a bit more of a read of the manual. Audio.bill, do you think the default dimmer setting is ‘auto’ and the unit might be trying to vary the brightness? The screen intensity varies whether the amp/speakers are switched on and playing music or not, on all display screens - seems like your suggestion might be the correct one. I’ll try, and thank you.

‘Audio.bill’ done, thank you.

I had the same issue with my PWT, in that the default auto dim setting caused the display’s brightness to cause varying display intensity. Glad that you were able to similarly resolve it with your P10.
