Me too. The FR30 should be able to move a lot more air more effortlessly but it would be a great matchup.
Wilson Alexx V was mentioned a couple times in this thread. They just got a 95% score/rating in a HiFi News review, which are adjusted for cost/value (harder for more expensive components to get higher score, as I understand their scoring system). Can’t ever recall a higher score than that - most are mid 80s, which aren’t bad scores typically. Anyway, fwiw
Edit: See Wilson Audio tweet today if interested in the review. Also, I could be wrong about cost factoring in to score, but I tried to dig into their scoring system awhile back and memory fuzzy on it but I think it factors in. I’m a fan of the mag mostly because they will on occasion give some really crappy scores, which is refreshing
Have not heard these top of the line models, But nothing in the WIlson line I have heard (i.e. most) can hold a candle to the aforementioned Vivid Giya’s to my ears anyway.
At $135,000–$151,000/pair the Wilson Alexx V is irrelevant in this thread, other than it is also a loudspeaker.
Agree, different class entirely. It was a PSA insider who brought them up initially, not me.
“PSA insider”? There must be a conspiracy to which I am not a part.
Agree on the Alexx. However I would love to hear them and compare to the DAWs.
I wonder if a set of these are set up for demo at PSA?
Happy CakeDay!
In the UK the Giya G3 is likely to be around the same price.
USA to UK/EU and vice versa can make ±25% difference in favour of the more local product.
Magico A5 are $22,000 USA and £28,000 UK (incl. 20% sales tax)
Going the other way, Franco Serblin Ktema are £25,000, but $59,000 in USA, a massive premium.
Great, succinct placement of the hammer head upon the nail.
Recent price increases have brought the A5’s to $24,800

Haha, it was Chris himself! No conspiracy, hmmm, or is there?
That is excellent service.
For PS Audio it is limited risk, as I don’t think that anybody would pay the full money prior to receiving the speakers without a very serious intention to keep them.
When I ordered the Buchardt’s, I had made up my mind and would only have sent them back if they had sounded really horrible all at sudden or they would have had manufacturing defects.
The horrible sounding was already confirmed NOT to be the case when Mads demonstrated the speakers to us in Denmark.
I must say that I do not doubt that the FR30 sound bad. The sound quality of the EUR 2.000 SGCD Was really good. The EUR 42.000 Aspens must blow your socks, or rather mountain boots off, when you hear them.
Owning the S400 I can definitely confirm that I enjoy the precise and clear bass of passive radiator designs. Very enjoyable.
I had the pleasure to be able to talk to Chris personally at one time and he knows what he is doing, that is for sure. Just keep enough eyes on the production. Developing is one thing, production another.
Which is reason #259 why I will never have an Alexa or similar in my home!
I dont think the Walmart shoppers are going to be looking for Buchardts either.
Been following this thread for awhile.
We have Bascom King build the BHK series amps and pre, Ted Smith give his talents with the DS Dac, and soon to be released MkII and higher, and now we’ll soon get to see what Chris Brunhaver’s and the PS Audio teams talents are like with the new fr30’s. I can’t wait to see the user comments from the owners and also from formal reviews. I’m currently speaker shopping, but unfortunately my budget is lower down the line.
Congrats on releasing the beginning of the speaker line-up PS Audio team!
That’s it. I’m no longer going to Walmart for high end audio
Makes perfect sense to start at the top. Can’t have trickle down technology without a reference to trickle down from.
look forward to the whole line coming out
