Expecting fathers waiting at the maternity door are chatting to calm their excitement
I’ve used this RBCD of Into the Labyrinth for almost 30 years and many iterations of my home system. It always makes it was into any new evaluation.
Steely Dan’s Aja. I’ve got one of the hard to come by Steve Hoffman masters that is less bright than the Roger Nichols master. The drum solo by Steve Gadd is mind blowing! It’s regular old red book, but the DirectStream senior brings out the beauty in every bit.
When Sunlight is released there’s going to be some awesome music playing simultaneously from DS’s all over the world. Kinda cool.
I’ll probably try some tracks from the PS Audio reference disk, then go to snarky puppy, then some John Williams and Anne-Sophie-Mutter. Definitely some Diana Krall in there as well! Live in Perris is recorded super well!
I’m going to use a section of a taped rehearsal of a band that I was in at the end of the 'eighties working out a song called “The King of LA,” recorded by me in my then garage apartment. There are spatial aspects of this recording I know very well and little bits of detail that I have identified that I can use to evaluate subtle changes to the system. It’s just a four track recording mixed to cdr but I’ve listened to it on systems for more than thirty years.
I’ll also use the Mobile Fidelity gold cd of Duke Ellington’s “Jazz Party.” Another very familiar and detailed recording that I have heard for decades on various systems.
First thing I’ll try with Sunlight (DMP to DSjr via I2S) is a DSD256 Sonic Rade record, see how it’s handled.
I would shun the light, share in evening’s cool and quiet
Who would trade that hum of night?
For sunlight, sunlight, sunlight
But whose heart would not take flight?…
Meeting her father was one of the highlights of my youth. . . I would certainly enjoy meeting either of his daughters!
I can’t wait to order an SD card with the new OS!
What are some streamers with PSAudio-compatible I2s interface (i.e., HDMI-type)?
I’m ready for a little Sunlight in my life!
This should be of some help: click
As ever, many thanks Ted.
Hi @tedsmith, it’s all academic, but could you have (in theory) have added a ‘digital profile’ that levels out the non-linearity if the transformers you mention?
