Octave Records PS Audio

One of the beauties of making a recording and enjoying it over listening to an intimate concert is the better “view” one can get. On my treasured copy of Perlman playing live into a stereo microphone not more than a few feet from him, I get to hear what no audience would ever hear. But, that’s just me.

We’re very close to getting downloads to be available. I would say that by next week those will be online.

I know it’s been longer than we were hoping for. This is exactly why we’re setting up a downloadable option. From what I can tell, you’re still in the first batch. Our shipping team has done a phenomenal job getting these out the door, and they’re still working through that first batch. Thanks for the patience, and I can promise it’s worth the wait.

I had stage seats directly behind Perlman in Chicago. He turned around and played for those of us on the stage for a short time. It was sublime. I was about 8 feet from him.

Until you have a chance to hear one live this (on a good system) will give you a fairly good idea what Ted is talking about.

I’ve got this one as LP, it’s good!

Perlman is a supreme musician and a real mensch.

Finally got to listen to the album in DSD, I would give it 10/10 for the studio works (mastering, recording and the artist) but 2/10 for the music as I would rate for the most of the audiophile albums. I just couldn’t connect to the music and was bored to death. This is just a matter of personal taste, of course.

Same. Bought my copy the morning it was announced via email, in Denver, and just got it. Playing around with it, but only from my McIntosh MCT450 -> C47. Didn’t hear anything via optical to the DSDac Sr yet. Might put the files on my fanless/headless linux box for roon to play…

…was able to select the CD layer so the Senior is now piping CD piano. Only able to play SACD into the C47’s DAC at the moment because both PSA and Mc use strange connections for SACD. I’ve seen the hack for the Senior, but it is for other CD Transfers, and not the MCT450 that I use.

Sorry it took so long to receive. I could have walked it down to you faster than that. Uploading the DSD files from the data disc to the linux server is a great option. Hacking your way through HW and SW limitations in order to get the DSD layer to the DS DAC will prove to be a large time sink.
When you get a chance, head over to this thread and let us know what you think of it.

Have all of the cd’s been shipped out yet? Went to PO Box and no cd yet and no tracking number sent.

Sadly not. We were supposed to receive our second batch of discs this week but they are currently stuck in customs. I’m guessing after a few more phone calls to get them cleared, they should be here in the next week.

The first two DSD recordings I purchased were on the Pentatone label. They were Julia Fischer recordings as my DSD machine had just turned up and I’d just heard her play the Beethoven violin sonatas. They were clearly very high quality recordings. On Highresaudio they were the same price as high res PCM. Ultimately I decided against using DSD, but a label providing fine quality recordings.

I have that on an old Telarc LP. It’s pretty terrific.

Any update on delivery of the latest CD? I have an email from PSA that I ordered mine on June 12 and an order number. But there’s no sign of this order in my PSA account, I haven’t received any shipping or product update…nothing.
