Oh Crap! REVERSE CHRONOLOGICAL... AGAIN?

We went through this the last time there was a forum upgrade. In my opinion reverse chronological SUCKS!!! Sorry, but that is it, it is just the way that I feel.

Reverse chronological is great if the only thing that you do is read the last one or two posts but it is a real PAIN IN THE ASS if you actually try to follow the thread. Usually the easiest way to do this is to read the posts in chronological order. To do this in reverse chronological order presentation you have to scroll down to find the last post that you have read then SCROLL UP and read down through the next (in chronological order) post, then SCROLL UP to get to the top of the next post, read down through that post, SCROLL UP to get to the top of the next newer post, read down through that post then SCROLL F’ING UP to get to the top of the next… Makes it REALLY HARD to read more than one or two new posts in a thread.

PLEASE turn it back around. Wasn’t it the right way around when the new forum came online? Did this change today or yesterday, or way I so overwhelmed by all of the other challenges of the new forum that I didn’t notice it??

Am I alone in this?

+1 here. There is another thread about this.

I thought I was having a bad day when I woke up and tried to scroll down a thread as usual, but it made no sense… Took me half an hour to figure out the order was reversed. <img title=“45_gif” alt=“45_gif” src=“http://www.psaudio.com/wp-content/forum-smileys/45.gif” />

Yesterday I worked out quickly that the order of the posts were not chronological because for some strange reason I looked at the post numbering. This is something I do not do normally. I assumed that it was minor glitch in the change over. It is not logical to go up a page. If it is not changed I will not be looking at the the forum site any more.

Please change the order.

I also note that I am listed as a member since April 25th 2014. I joined in 2012. When the new site started it asked to to re-register. I assume that is why the joining date change. Only a small point but can it be changed?

I like the reverse order a lot. If you keep,up each day it saves a lot of time. If not it is easy enough to go to the end and scroll through the entire thread.

Ok, ok, it’s back. Sheesh!

i think this way (reverse order ) is MUCH better!!!

can we have it as a selectable option?

Thanks. Here’s where you can choose how the forums looks for you as he said.

I was not aware that the order could be changed in options. Not with standing the option of changing, I think that the order of down the page from first to last would be far preferable for most people and it is probably more natural in the context of how the brain works. Down the page should be the default and for those who like up to see the last first can change the setting.

I am happy. Thanks

It depends whether you are able to jump directly to the new (unread) posts or not.

To me (as a frequent visitor) it seems that the direct jump only works if you have one page in your thread.

When reverse sorted on multiple page posts I had to hit page one to get to the most recent posts. I just went back to un-reversed to avoid the hassle - That’s why I asked Paul to make it optional again.

I always thought having the new posts first would be better… I was wrong… I’m finding that I like the oldest first, newest last… makes it easier to catch up…And yes it is counterintuitive.
