Does it mean I can also plug a pre-amp or other devices into the high current outlets? Will the upcoming new P10 (DSP10) share the same design / mechanism? By the way, when is the new P10 expected to be launched? Many thanks!
Yes, you can plug anything you would like into the high current outlets. They differ from the other outlets only by limiting inrush current upon startup.
Thanks Elk!
Paul, I have mentioned this “typo” before but still don’t see a correction. On the product details page for the P20, it says the following: “Instead of wires to route power, there are aerospace-grade pure-copper, 1/4″ thick gold-plated buss bars handling all current paths.” When I look at the accompanying photo of these buss bars, I will eat my hat if the pictured buss bars are even close to 1/4" thick. “Wide” looks like the more accurate qualifier.
When I buy flat bar from the steel merchant, if I order 25x2 it is 25 mm wide, and 2 mm thick. So obviously, by metal merchant nomenclature, the copper bus bars in P20 are not 1/4" thick. They look slightly under about 2mm thick…
Went to Hong Kong dealer, Radar Audio, to listen to the P20. They have two P20’s, each driving a Gryphon Mephisto monoblock. Mephisto draws 700W in 100% Class A mode and P20 handles it with ease. The heat sink is just warm to touch. The speaker is Magico M6.
The enhancement brought by P20 was larger than expected. I use three P10’s in my system and draw each of my monoblock with a P10. P20 is much better. I order two P20 on the spot. When I shared my experience with my audiophile friends, they ordered 4 more. Over the weekend, there are 6 P20 order from Hong Kong. Paul has to ask his staff for OT extra hours to meet the demand.
At the risk of putting style over function, I would suggest selling a version without the front handles. I think they disturb the clean lines of the P20.
We lost that battle…the handles are here to stay.
Want some ketchup for the hat? Might make it go down better.
Both the new P10 and P5 will have the same technology found inside the P20. We’re hoping for a May launch.
Everyone should start their day with a good chuckle! Thanks!
lmf22-2…The bus bars in my Hydra 8 are machined from “the finest cryogenic-grade CDA-101 copper” and are more than 5 inches long and 1.5 inches thick comprising seven pounds in total weight… Now that’s a buss bar folks…
The phrase “cryogenic-grade” makes it sound like the copper is good enough for cryogenic treatment, but has not. An odd choice of words; I am certain the copper has actually been cryogenically treated.
Yes Elk, their copper is cryogenically treated.
Is the P20 available in Black?
I’ve only ever seen it pictured in the cream white color.
No mention in the specs whether it’s available in black.
Yes, you choose silver or black on the order page.
Yes and if you go to the more details page https://www.psaudio.com/directstream-p20-power-plant/ you’ll see a big beautiful photo of the unit in black. If you preorder use the dropdown menu and you can choose black.
P20 owners manual now available.
Hi Paul, is there filtering between each of the outlets?
Or only wire (and no other components) between the outlets and the filtering is done before the outlets?
Cheers
