I wonder what material “sounds best” in a receptable or plug. There are a myriad of opinions depending on synergy.
For saving cost and really, circumventing the whole socket/plug dilema, here’s my solution:
Hardwire anything that’s possible. So the ends of power cords are crimped and soldered straight to the ends of legs of a mains line. No more will platinum/rhodium/gold contacts prevail as best, as they are a necessary evil trying to mitigate something that can be bypassed.
Of course, this takes of a bit of work and can void power cable warranties…
But it’s worth it, take my word.
