Main Street USA

Main street is at the very end of the photo where the white monument is, this is Elk Ave and all 4 blocks of downtown.

Nice looking small town that appears to have held better than most. :+1:

It’s barely holding on, a lot of business of my youth are not there any more, but there is a small come back happening now.

Good to hear. I think most all of the small towns in America have suffered from Amazon / Walmart / Big Box syndrome. I do wonder where the people go. I suppose many stay and suffer along.
We have been traveling a few weeks each summer for the last few years and it is sad to see the nationwide rural town downfall but I guess is a normal progression of sorts.
My home town is luckily on Lake Michigan and transitioned from a strictly Blue Collar automotive manufacturing town to a vacation rental / tourist trap town.
There are only a few manufacturing facilities left in town and luckily for me we still service most all of them. The permanent population has gone from 12,000 or more 20 years ago to 6,000 today (25,000 in summer months) but with all of the summer home tax money the town is actually in better shape now.
If you go inland 10 miles all of those towns are dead and decaying.

Long night time exposure of an abandoned hotel in central Florida. Zone VI 4"x5" camera, Schneider 210 Symmar S lens, Ilford Delta 400 film in Pyro developer.

1940s film noire feeling to it. You expect to see Orson Welles exit a doorway in a long distance shot that gradually zooms in. Nicely done.
