Nice composition. Cropping about half of the upper black area would really make it more powerful (IMO).

No, just the stump and I don’t know when it was cut down.
In the bridge photo, off to the right near the bridge you can make out a gazebo covering the stump.

The installation in the background looks interesting.
It was a 3D forest made of cardboard, about 6m square. Probably quicker to grow one from scratch. A slightly better view.

The best thing was a massive animation by Jennifer Steinkamp of a yearly cycle of a birch forest, totally immersive. It’s at the end of the link.
