Playlist Cover Art Stopped Uploading?

Isn’t the whole reason for the PS Audio “hive” of discs (both CD, SACD) to minimise the reliance of the imperfect data stored on discs? Keeping this running is a great effort that ultimately benefits everyone using discs and also the upcoming server / disc copier.

Playlist problems doc’d in my post #47 above are still there. No playlist updates from my DMP for over a week now. My playlist window in my browser connects very slowly and, as of this morning, will not completely load. For CDs and SACD, my DMP reads and reads and apparently gets nothing back from the playlist server. It plays the disc, but does not get a track list, nor cover art even from previously successful playlist entires…and, it still says: Internet OK SD Card OK. As in post #47, everything rebooted and reconnected and all connectivity works as it always has…except my playlist.

I still have no connectivity to my playlist. It reports trying to download tracklist and gets “File read/write error”. I reports trying to download cover art and get “File read/write error” I did some additional analysis of my DMP and it’s connectivity to the internet. My DMP lists it’s IP ADdress as 10.0.0.52. I scanned and pinged my local network for that IP and got successful pings with an average response of about 45ms. I did a port scan on that IP address and found only port 80 open with an HTTP attribute. I did a config scan and the Host Name is TransportII. I had it scan the port/host status and the scan tool opened a browser window at PSAudio with a window titled DirectStream Memory Player.
My conclusion: My DMP is healthy, online to the internet, and trys to “call home”…and reports “File read/write error” when trying to get to the playlist server.
If I’ve done something wrong here, please let me know…otherwise, I accuse the PSA playlist server.
Thanks!

ok thanks i have just noticed there is a file r/w error and the sd card is fine as I have not changed anything before this error! actually i went away for a week and shut everything off? is poss a IP issue or some conflict. Is there a way to check if the PWT has an IP address? or is that only is the DSM?

Hi Kevin… Please see my post number 62 below/above. Is that the kind of network analysis that you suggest?
If so, can you comment on my conclusion?
Thanks!!

Hi calord,
Your troubleshooting is fairly sound, however it doesn’t confirm that the unit is in fact communicating with the server in order to create a record on the online playlist. This is because the process for retrieving disc metadata to display on the DMP itself is separate from creating an entry on the playlist; the “file read/write error” is coming from the DMP itself, not our playlist server.

As Paul stated, we are aware of an issue that can prevent DMPs from reaching out to the server when a disc is played:

Since we’re getting out of the realm of general questions and into the realm of individual device support here, I would highly recommend reaching out to our Customer Support (support@psaudio.com or 970-406-8946) for further assistance, or if you’d like I can have them contact you directly. They’ll be better equipped to troubleshoot the issue with you and work toward a resolution than we can do through the forums.

Hi amisty,
You’ll need to log into your router to see what IP is assigned to the PWT, to my knowledge there is no interface which displays the network configuration on the display. I strongly recommend contacting support for further help with your unit; there are a number of reasons your unit may not be creating entries in the online playlist and they will be best equipped to assist in troubleshooting

Hi Kevin… Thanks for your response. I do want to do a couple more diagnostics before I call for help. I want to drop back to 2.06 which is what came in my DMP. Test, then back up to 2.08.
Yeh…I’ve been a PSA customer for 30+ years (PS 200C Amp)…and, I’m right here in Boulder.

calord-

I figure that you’ve tried this but just in case:
When my Playlist stopped updating, I restarted my cable modem and router. Shortly afterwards, my Playlist started working again. Absolutely no other device on my network was having any connectivity issues and I don’t understand why the DMP was having a problem. Nevertheless, try giving your network a kick.

For whatever it is worth, my playlist recorded a couple of CDs I played, then it stopped. Like last week and the week before. However, the display indicated there was network connection all the way.

I don’t think my DMP has ever indicated it didn’t have a network connection unless the ethernet cable has been completely unplugged.

The Playlist has stopped working altogether yesterday. However, as per usual, everything else connected to my network seems to be working at my end and the display indicated that internet connection is OK. There is no way of knowing whether the fault is with my network or at PS Audio’s end. Has anyone able to add things on their playlist in the last few days?

That’s my experience as well. I’ve confirmed my network (Pinged, traced, port scanned and confirmed my DMP can see the PSA server). My playlist has not updated since 24th March. My DMP cannot update the playlist nor can it download metadata nor coverart. I’ve tried to access my playlist from IOS, and Windows and it sputters and stalls and will often not even be able to finish loading.

My previous try was on March 27 and everything worked fine. I just tried a couple of CDs. Neither show on my playlist.

Since a couple of days my PWT won’t show tracks and albumart on the display. I have registered the player, but even on my playlist no cd’s I’ve played appear. On the display it says internet connection should be ok. Firmware 1.24.

I wonder if the playlist server has been hacked by bitcoin miners like the old forum server was.

The playlist seems to be non functioning and has been so for a week or so now.

Others seem to be reporting this too.

Playlist non-functioning here, as well: no data downloaded to PWT.

Playlist not functioning here - SACD shows detail on DMP screen but nothing recorded on Playlist. This is a long standing problem - 2 years or more - with the times the DMP/Playlist working being the exception rather than the rule. Can’t imagine why the Octave will do any better give the track record with Playlist.

Playlist still not working for me either. I haven’t even tried for a while. It shows the last CD it imported was February 4th despite being connected to the network.
