Power Plant 15 Shutting Down

My five year old DirectStream Power Plant 15 has recently started shutting down. It started about a month ago with infrequent shut downs, then it became a daily occurance, now it’s more than hourly. When I say “shuts down” I mean that all plugged in components switch off and the outlet images on the home screen turn red. Initially, and still sometimes, the unit kicks back in immediately and the outlet images turn back green but more and more the unit will not turn back on without shutting off for 30 minutes or more.

I have not changed components plugged into the PP in over a year or made any other changes. Plugged into the PP 15 are: PS Audio BHK 250, BHK Preamp, Bluesound node streamer, Roon nucleus, Rotel CD player, Panasonic TV, Fire tv stick.
It does not seem to matter which components or combination of components are on when it shuts off, as I have experimented with this.

As you can imagine these reboots are frustrating my listening and viewing time. I hope there is a simple answer you guys can help me figure out. I’m worried something has gone wrong with the PP 15 itself.
I appreciate any responses.

Hey Mike …

Any word from PS yet?

Hoping to hear soon

Best wishes

To update, heard back from PS Audio service and they have replaced the oscillator board in my PP 15. I was no longer under warranty so its costing $427 with shipping.

Mike thanks for sharing once again.

Happy for you that your P15 was serviced and restored!! Well well worth the price of repair!!!

How soon will it be back home?

DavidA

I am having the exact same issue. My p15 is around 8 years old. Will send mine in for hopefully the same cost

Good luck with it.

Hi Mike, what’s the news on your P15?

Kinda itching to hear new developments

Best wishes

It’s been back on the shelf for some time now and operating as it should. M

pay your bill!

more seriously, you have a quick services, so those unit are good for average 10years, before refurbishing them!

good to know!

So, as another P15 owner, which is now getting onto around 7 years, I am wondering if the above failures are due to them being left on all the time?

How many people actually leave them on all the time and have had issues around the 10 year mark?

I power mine on in the evening and power off at the end of the evening. So far so good… but it still has a few years to go to make it to 10.

Any correlation on lifespan and being left on 24 x 7?

Cheers

Kevin

Mine must be around 7 years and I’m having it powered on most of the time, unless I’m away for more than a day. So far without issues.
