Fantastic!
So people still live under rocks!
The Oud is a wonderful instrument. The great modern master is Marcel Khalife, from Lebanon. My favourite album, Jadal, is a series of four classical duets.
A more jazz orientated great is Dhafer Youssef, check this out.
Another favorite of mine, well they are all favorites, is this:
Great for evening listening sessions.
@gregc - See what you started! Now I’m listening to Marcel Khalife!
BTW - Birds Requiem is tagged “Heavy Rotation” in our Roon. It’s great. Do you know Amos Hoffman?
I stepped out with my wife to pickup takeout and it is nice to see some additional suggestions. I do not follow much new music. For jazz I am into the classics, along with some fusion like Lean Luc Ponty and Stanley Jordan.
One out of print albums that I recorded that used to not be available on digital is Gino D’Auri - Passion Play. Gino is in the Gipsy Kings, but the album was a solo effort.
I enjoy music trivia so Roon would be interesting. I am a huge Rush fan, and recently I learned that the cadence for YYZ is Morse code for Y-Y-Z (relevant for the Toronto airport where they are from). I like learning new trivia like that.
I just listened to Anouar Brahem. Thanks, I like how they sound I will explore further. The vibe reminds me of Bela Fleck, Zakir Hussain & Edgar Meyer.
Indeed I do. But then half my family lives in Israel, including my younger son, and my wife is in love with Idan Raichel. His music is strangely oudless.
Hi, time flies, it’s September! I understood the AirLens was on track (in July) for beta testing in September so fingers crossed.
@Paul, are you able to give an update on how things are travelling with the AirLens?
Great musician. I found out about him a year or so ago.
I attended a oud performance by the great Ahmed Abdul-Malik who also played bass for Thelonious Monk’s quartet !
Oh man, that must have been wonderful!
Good choice. I like his music. Le Pas du Chat Noir is my favourite
I saw Bela Fleck twice in Carmel, Once with Bela Fleck, Zakir Hussain & Edgar Meyer, and another time with the Flecktones. He shook hands and signed autographs in the lobby after the shows. He is a down-to-earth artist.
I am glad I saw so many amazing shows before the madness started in 2020.
Thanks for the music suggestions.
Definitely on track but for scheduling we will release the DSMK2 first - hopefully at the end of September - followed by the AirLens in October (ish).
October also outside the US, can you tell or guess?
Sweet.
Any chance for a DSII/AirLens package deal?
In September…
Remind me again, what’s an AirLens?
A Never-Ending-Point?
