CDs do not contain WAV files and WAV files were not created for CDs. CDs contain data in a form as set forth in the Red Book audio standard.
CD data (the Red Book audio standard) can only be played from a CD. The files must be converted to WAV or other format for storage on a computer hard disc.
Windows represents CD data as CDA files, but there really is no such thing as a CDA file.
Would it be possible for you, or the team developing AirLens to say how things are going with the AirLens?
Have you settled on whether it might be able to stream single or double rate DSD?
Any news you might be able to share on progress would be greatly appreciated. If you were able to share some pictures of the casing, that would be really wonderful.
I’d be very happy grabbing an AirLens if it came out before the DS MkII too!
I think the plan was to bring both out at the same time but could it be the AirLens might be ready beforehand, if the DS MkII is being held up waiting for boards?
Not sure if the AirLens might have the same delay factors though…
I have the spec sheet at my desk. Don’t know how much of the info I’m allowed to share though. Will check with Barry tomorrow. I have seen the the proto board and chassis. It’s going to be quite a looker. Very clean and minimalistic.
I would like to know where the IEC is located and the direction of the plug.
Looking at the rear, is the IEC on the left or right?
Which direction is the IEC? Is the ground pin at Noon, 3 O’Clock, 6 O’clock, or 9 O’clock?
I ask because I am going to make a power cord for it and I’d like to get a sense of the length I need for my cabinet and the orientation of the plugs from the AirLens to the Power Plant.
…Running on Octave SW and also enabling a Roon endpoint.
The confusing thing is that the name Octave is used for the label, the upcoming server HW and the SW at the same time. Until the Octave streamer was named Airlens, it was even used for the Streamer HW, too.
I was expecting Octave SW would be a part of AirLens package too. For that reason, I have yet to subscribe to Roon, and my music files are getting harder to manage now. Paul was less thrilled about the Roon SQ being one of the reasons for Octave SW if my memory serves me right (less right lately).
“Just to be clear in this sea of muddy water. The new streamer is in its own chassis (a half size chassis) and it will officially be called the AirLens. Internally we may sometimes refer to it as a Bridge III but that’s certainly not its official name.”
Yes, it would have been great but Octave SW is no longer. After 5 years of hard work and intense effort we threw in the towel. Sad day. Octave Streamer is alive and well and fixes the issue I have with Roon SQ.
It is a sad day to hear Octave SW is no more. Mcontrol HD app does not provide outstanding SQ streaming in my opinion. It is time to join the ROON crowd, I guess.
