PS Audio AirLens

Ok got AL playing nicely with MconnectHD (sounds great) but it doesn’t find Roon.

I did the FW update first and haven’t seen the Roon screen Not Certified Yet others have. I’ve been paying Roon on my iPad without problem waiting for the AL.

Shouldn’t I be able to switch endpoints by clicking on the iPad in lower right corner ?

I’m not 100% sure what you’re asking, but the Airlens doesn’t actually need to find a Roon, rather you need to find the Airlens in your Roon settings under “audio.” If I understand your question properly this should get you where you need to be, if not, please let me know further what you’re looking for

Sometimes “marketing nomenclature” matters! If the AirLens had simply been called “Bridge III”, how much less confusion would it have created for PSA customers? And how much effort would we save Al?

Found my problem, didn’t have it selected in the Roon Audio screen

Yes I realized my wording was poor when I reread it later.

When I ordered my MkII I told the guy on the phone I wanted to be on the AL beta test team. He said okay, and that they’d contact me when it was time. Guess they forgot. :face_with_diagonal_mouth:

If you are using Bridge2, you will still get a great trade-in value (same as Beta testers). That’s my experience as a Mk2 tester anyway. You don’t have to worry about any bug either.

Weird. I never asked. They just reached out to me and offered (late in the process.) My bet is that the guy failed to make a note when you placed the order. You’re certainly well qualified (more so than me, I would think).

Interesting comment from my perspective. Last time I was a beta tester the one thing that was asked of all beta testers was to write a review for the general forum. This seems to have been lost here.

They certainly can be encouraged to post in the forum but I am unaware of any requiremet they do so.

My experience also differs from yours in that I have not neen aware of any such requirement in the past as well.

The Beta testers’ comments have been very positive.

is the firmware update for Roon users only, of which I am not. …? Expecting my Airlens on Tuesday

Does anyone with an Airlens have a DSJ? Would love to know how the Airlens may improve the DSJ. Eventually I plan on getting the MKII.

In my case, the firmware worked with everything except Roon, so you might be able to plug and play with whichever version they are delivering. That being said, it’s possible that there are other reasons why you might want to upgrade to the latest firmware.

The update definitely affects those setting up Roon. However, what other impact the two updates might have is unknown. Both updates take less than a minute to apply. Don’t see the downside of applying them and have the most current firmware.

it seems some are shipping with the new firmware, how do we know if the one we get has the new firmware ? Thanks again…

Does anyone know if there would be a difference is SQ between using an ethernet cable and a WiFi signal with the AirLens?

Using UPS now…interesting.

you’ll find out when you plug it in, and see whether roon works or not!

But from the manual:

Not the most intuitive, but there’s no native app so I guess you get what you get…

And interesting that there’s both an “Airlens firmware update” and a “Streamer firmware update.” Is the “streamer” one for Roon-readiness?

Can’t wait to hear more reviews, and comparisons with other streamers!

There was a native app for Bridge II called MConnect Setup. I wonder if it will work for the AirLens?
