MConnect is universal UPnP(DLNA?) app, so yes it should work with Airlens fine as it is UPnP compatible
I’m using MconnectHD works great
MConnect is a product by ConversDigital, the same company that makes the board used inside the AirLens; so of course they work together. There are actually two versions. Mconnect control is specific to ConversDigital hardware (including the AirLens) while M connect is a generic DLNA player. Each has an HD version that provides a horizontal display when used on an iPad.
For the AirLens you want the Conversdigital hardware specific version as it includes internet radio and the generic versions do not.
Still pacing in the fathers waiting room?
Just arrived this very minute!
thanks, though I am asking because I do not use Roon…
Firmware updates can address a broad range of fixes. If the unit is at the current version, it will check for the update and do nothing. If not, the update is downloaded and installed. Power cycle after complete. Your posts suggest you are concerned that you somehow the update will “mess up” the AirLens from using anything but Roon. If I wasn’t using Roon, I would still update my unit.
Hope I didn’t misinterpret your posts. Just hoping to put you more at ease. Since there is not a way to view the version number of the firmware, I’m hoping that PSA will consider a mailing list for registered users to notify them of future updates.
Excellent advice.
A detailed set of unboxing pictures follows for those who might be interested. Breaking this up into main post and self-replies.
[First (non-listening) impression: The Air Lens is much prettier in person. I was a bit put off by photos of the kit.]
The PSA-badged I2S cable is back. These were respectable cables back in the day. Curious to know if these are as good or better than their predecessors.
On to hook up and a first listen…
One question for the other early adopters and Beta Testers: Anyone using the provided ferrite ring on their Ethernet cable?
This is an interesting recommendation.
Wait! No USB out?
Pot stirrer!
I would ignore the ring. It is there to meet Euro regs.
Great pics.
Thanks; and thank you for the insight. Including the ferrite ring struck me as odd.
Looks just like ya…
Seems I would have to set dip 5 and 6 different from standard as I wouldn’t need volume control from the Airlens and I wonder that DOP isn’t set active by standard. I understood, for I2S and connection to a DS it’s needed?
