Ah ha…
Good to know,
liked the design but not the form factor of that case.
What comes will probably be the form factor but not the design Ok for me.
Thanks.
Sorry if already known from all rumors here reported…
I was wondering if the AirLens may have one internet wired input only, RJ45 port of course, or even a fiber optic port for SFP modules.
Assuming that the fiber optic path can cancel noise and there are lots of media converters (ethernet > fiber > ethernet) used for audio purposes, or almost lots of audiophile switches have on board a fiber optic port… this would be useful.
In that case the AirLens would benefit from a last meter cleaner fiber optic cable path, from a switch, from a media converter or what else.
All a totally new and unknown territory for me so sorry if this has no sense.
Or at the end of the day if the AirLens does clean the signal as its own proper work and main purpose just inside the box (galvanically isolating the path into the chassis itself) it doesn’t matter how and where the wifi or ethernet or fiber optic signal arrive to it, isn’t it?
Supposed to be one RJ45 and WiFi
I’ll have to disagree with Paul, the SR UEF Ethernet Switch I put in that my streamer is connected to with an ethernet cable definitely had a pretty dramatic improvement on the sound playing DSD256 files. I heard it, my brother came over, he heard it. It is more drastic than even my Farad powered EtherRegen I used before.
I had the same experience as Waymanchen11 but with a Waversa Hub 3.0 ethernet switch.
Same happened with me. Fiber out of switch to fiber input on Rendu. Huge increase in SQ. Undeniable.
What is the advantage of an expensive switch when you have the option of inexpensively cleaning up the ethernet pathway right before entering your audio chain?
Likely covered but will the AL have internal or external Wi-Fi antennas?
I think that’s the first time someone has asked about the antenna(s).
After some four years on this thread, or at least three, I agree, we do not know whether or not there will be external WiFi antennas to the AirLens. Must be time for PS Audio to give us a sneak pic of the back of the device!
Re agreeing or disagreeing with Paul‘s „the switch does not make a difference“ comments, he left plenty of room for less noisy switches to make a difference. So I agree with his theory comments. While having to admit my A-B experience using control teenagers that switches can matter.
I would not think the AL would have antenna’s since Stellar Strata has built in wifi without them. Antenna’s kinda look cheep to me!
Just ordered a SR UEF Switch with Fundamental Ethernet Cable.
Let’s give it a try!
During last days I had critical listening sessions to compare again my CDs (via PST) to streaming music (Roon/Qobuz via MacMini Matrix). No news, PST outperforms by far any kind of 44/16 xx/24 streaming.
No files ripped or downloaded in my pretty “young digital life”.
Considering any effort in this territory as a training period awaiting the AirLens launch!
It’s not my focus, too, but to understand the need and benefit of this, Inuous support is a great source. As they sell and don’t sell exactly the opposite of PSA, be prepared for different points of view. Noise free sources and network paths vs. galvanic isolation, server measures vs. isolated streamers etc.
Finally we have to decide for one of the views and for what fits our needs best. Easy for me without being dogmatic in believing only one of them.
I isolate in every step I can. does not hurt, can only improve right.
Either one has to be convincing. When both have a good proposition, it may end in a draw. In that case, we all win, ‘despite’ having to choose. What more could one wish for?
Yes that’s ok. The option is for those who want to know all points of view before they decide. Inuous support is very knowledgeable, openminded and goes into depth when demanded.
Yes and it doesn’t even directly compete except if one’s open for a streamer OR a server solution and not focused towards one of them (like I am). I think the AL will be the best current option for those looking for a pure streamer solution.
Sorry if out of thread… Awaiting my new Switch SR UEF just a few question, you are so more experienced than I could ever be:
my chain is going to be since tomorrow
Router > Wall RJ45 > AQ Diamond Ethernet Cable > SR UEF Switch > SR Fundamental Ethernet Cable > PinkFaun Ethernet Isolator > MacMini > AQ Diamond USB Cable > Intona USB isolator > intona USB Cable > Matrix SPDF2 > AQ Dragon HDMI 48 > DSD DAC SR
A) how to correctly set up the MacMini MIDI (values, parameters, etc) to have best results? No modded done to MacMini and no software player in use (just Roon/Qobuz) - I have no ripped/saved files to play, just streaming.
B) how useful tips for Roon set up do you suggest able to improve my digital path due to existing gears/cables?
The aim is to improve SQ in streaming only compared to CDs via PST, with my actual equipment. AirLens will be next step (no servers/streamers until that day).
I’m using just Roon (Qobuz) because I only stream and I’m not using files on server or NAS in any case.
