Not $1,000 more. There are very good deals out there. I know I purchase a brand new unit recently.
Think about what it would cost to write an application that would have all the features and functionality of Roon. I’d rather not be involved in such an insane project. Maybe you could give it a shot. How hard could it be? Plus, they don’t need to as Roon exists.
Sense app is good enough for me and many other folks. Can’t PS do the same or are their resources stretched ? I don’t know the answer but Sense makes sense !
Don’t wait grab a Innuos. You can enjoy immediately and it offers more than a Airlens. I use an Auralic Aries G2 with a Matrix SPDIF for I2S integration! No regrets.
You are proving my point. Thanks!
It’s been documented on other threads that PS Audio was working on proprietary software and scrapped it after several years in development. Roon if you can’t beat it join it
I have tried Roon and at this time I don’t see the need to use it with my Innuos Zen.
I use both the Auralic lightning software and Roon. The lightning software sounds better but I like to turn on Roon radio when I’m not doing serious listening because it’s the best for finding new music IMO.
That is probably the only reason for using Roon and paying their fees.
I hope that AirLens will be successful for the PS Audio but I fear they are a bit late.
It is an over priced and limited target product that is the result of over four and a half years of “product development.” If you have already invested money in a Matrix with all it’s parts and pieces or other compatible DDC switching to the Air Lens instead will just leave a market flooded with those parts.
Good points!
For what it’s worth, I have zero interest in what anyone thinks about the usefulness of the AirLens. I understand its purpose and I would love to play with one. @jpg55 is comparing apples to oranges with his comparison of a full fledged server to a simple bridge device. An UltraRendu is a bridge device. As is the Matrix. A ZenMKII is a server and endpoint. It is not the same thing at all, even though it seems that way to him.
I am not trying to sell the AirLens. I just get tired of people saying things like “I hear the AirLens will feed your Pony while you sleep”. Or similar.
If you don’t like it, or want it, why the F are you in this thread? Go to a thread where you are interested in the topic.
What
Ever!
If I was seriously considering a DS Mk II and wanted a full featured and I2S streaming partner for it I would look first at the Euphony Summus.
But you are aware that the Euphony Summus has an i2s output.
An excellent choice BTW!
Simmer down !
It’s only audio talk !
I am calm. It is audio talk, but in this thread the noise drowns out the useful content.
(I am off to feed my pony)
Wait! I don’t have a pony! So I guess I don’t need the AirLens either!
No problem, friendo!
And a full service app from a company that specializes in that arena.
You know I use and respect Euphony!
(Who not only wrote their own application, they wrote their own Operating System!)
And that’s my point. There are other companies that make fully compatible products that specialize in the field.
