If I leave my transport idle for any period of time, I have to unplug/replug the unit to get any sound out of an SACD playback. Is this common? Any fixes known?
This should not have happened. I left PMG SACD on standby for more than a day sometimes, and there was no issue playing discs after turning it on.
I’ll try a firmware update.
I’ve had my PMG SACD Transport on standby for months without any failures. Works whenever I use it. I would say yours needs to be serviced.
I have had twice now where I have left my PMG transport in standby with a CD in it for several weeks and it locked up and would not respond to the touch screen or the remote. Could not play or eject the CD until I power cycled the transport.
My latest issue is a CD that the transport will not recognize. That CD plays fine in my laptop, my desktop PC and an external Blu-ray drive.
Do you know a decent exorcist? Not one of those cheap ones. A good one.
But seriously, I believe the laser pickup in your unit is having issues. Scratched lens seems the most obvious possibility. @paul172 was having issues with his Gryphon Ethos not playing some CDs. Turns out it was a scratched lens. Gryphon replaced the drive unit completely, no charge. Send yours back for a look see.
