When I try to play an SACD, the player has difficulty starting; after about 10–15 seconds, it stops and locks up completely. The only way to get it working again is to restart it using the power switch on the back.
I installed the latest firmware a few months ago, and this issue happens with every SACD I try to play. Interestingly, standard “Red Book” CDs behave exactly as they should and play without any issues.
Does anyone have any advice on what might be causing this or how to fix it? Thanks in advance for your help.
Some how I fail to see how my transport doesn’t have these issues assist the original poster. I suggest Markch contact PS Audio technical support by email and follow-up with a phone call.
While of little help to Markch I offer the following: My experience with a DSD MkII transport was not positive. Out of the box it did not survive he burn in, at 72 hours it crashed and took out my Perfect Wave DAC Mk I. So experience with these devices vary. I moved on to a Jay’s CDT2 Mk3, and liked it so much I added a Jay’s CDT-3 MkII forgoing SACD playback altogether. Both have been trouble free, something I can not say regarding my short lived PSA transport.
I have PMG SACD transport. It’s response to touchscreen and remote control was sluggish from the beginning but it played SACD and Red Books until last week, SACD playback finally crashed.
