Recommendations for aftermarket mains cable for PWT

Hi, I know there have been a number of recents discussions on after market mains cable in general, but I’m looking for recommendations specifically for the PWT. I’ve already spent too much on my DS/PWT combo (!!!) so I’m looking for something that’s a significant improvement on the supplied cable but doesn’t cost the earth e.g. I can’t afford an AC12…

I’m using Russ Andrews Reference Powercords on my amp and DS - not sure how well known they are outside of UK but they use kimber cable and are generally well regarded.

I’m looking to spend approx £100 ($150) max £160 ($240), probably 2nd hand in order to get best value, so I’m looking at options like a similar Russ Andrews to above, Chord Power Chord, Furetech Alpha 3, PSAudio AC-05.

Does anyone have any recommendations for the PWT, at that price point, that work particularly well?

Hi MIke. Of those you list I HAVE used the PS Audio AC-5. With good results. Worth a try. I use an AC-12 on mine, I saved up and scoured the 'net for good prices and have AC-12 on all components. But an AC-5 will give quite good sound to the PWT.

Hi, thanks for the suggestion. I actually ended up finding a Chord Power Chord at a reasonable price on eBay, should arrive shortly. Will report back on how it sounds.

I am using AC-12 power cord and was very impressed…sweet and musical.

I have played with all sorts of power cables and have come to the conclusion that careful separation of power and IC cables gives one the best SQ. I have gone back to using the supplied cables.

By a huge margin the best results I got from my PWT is with the JPS Labs Aluminata Reference Power Cable. Pretty amazing, but with breathtaking resolution, timing, spaciousness, black background. Comes at a price, however…

I used PS Audio AC12 as well, but the Aluminata is much better. Also very good choice is the cheaper JPS Labs Kaptovator, but it doesn’t provide all the advantages the Aluminata has.

Edit: Oops, just saw the price range you want to spend money in. So beyond reach, I’m afraid…

Yes, cable dressing makes more of a difference than the cables themselves.
