Agreed - I will miss his innovation. In JR. high school I went to a week long drum workshop with a variety of percussionists, and Chick happened to be there with Dave Weckl. I had the fortunate experience of learning and playing (really learning how to improvise) with both throughout that week.
I learned a great deal as I’m sure he influenced many many others throughout his lifetime.

Saw him at the Boulder Theater back in the late 90s…legend.

My high school jazz band and I got to see him live at one of the festivals we played at. He was a special one!
