Since the master tapes were/are PCM, I wonder if it makes better ‘sense’ to download the PCM version. Acoustic Sounds has both formats…??
I don’t think you can beat DSD produced from DSD maters, but PCM converted to DSD, to my ears, is no better, and sometimes worse, than PCM 24/192…I’m interested in everyone’s thoughts on this subject.
My rule of thumb is to stick with the original recording format if that was digital. Especially is they charge extra for converted files, as some DSD vendors seem to.
I forgot how much I love this album. Without ‘gapless’ however, ‘it just ain’t right!’ Anxiously awaiting Bridge2…
This is a fantastic, and IMHO underrated, album.
I opted for the DSD download the day it came out and it sounds amazing.
I also have the vinyl and the Blu-Ray (for 5.1 mix) that should be arriving today as well.
Both this and the Rick Wright’s Broken China are my favorite Floyd Solo albums.
