Roon rocks. All other software is like a candle compared to the sun 
My Innuos Roon Core is network isolated from my main system, connected by fibre optic.
Upgrading my office system, I am grateful that Roon can act as a streamer via usb. I bought a CXA81 DAC/amplifier that cost $1,100. Itâs a highly capable unit. It has the same DAC chip as the $4,000 Strata and measures much better. In fact the CXA81 DAC has a lower noise floor than the PSA DSD DAC.
The Innuos Zen Mk3 has a dedicated linear power supply to the usb output. It also has mains filtration and is a very low noise processor. So the usb option has saved me buying a separate streamer, which would have cost close to $1,000 (Lindemann Limetree or Pro-Ject Ultra S2), which is a nice saving and effectively means that the Innuos Zen Mk3 is acting as a Roon Core, 4tb server and streamer of high quality for $2,600. It sounds very good.
I am having difficulty with 1.8. Every time I try to play an album it shuffles the album. It doesnât matter what the shuffle icon is indicating. I can get it to work properly after 3 or 4 tries. But by then the queue is a complete mess even though I clear it. Frustrating.
are you hitting the âplay nowâ button or just the first song on the album?
(does it make a difference?)

I just noticed an update roll out to 1.8. Iâll have to review the release notes to see what it addresses
It fixes some crashes with non-English languages only. The translators didnât get much time this go around and clearly the bugs werenât caught before release.
I noticed that, too, but it has stopped. Not sure if I did something poking around. I took the patch they threw out today for 1.8.

I have hit Play now. I have opened the album and done a play from here on the first track. I have done play next. All resulted in shuffled tracks.
The last thing I did was toggle the shuffle icon which was showing no shuffle and I got to having all the tracks in order.
I have been using Roon daily for 300 years and this seems like a new problem to me. I am certain I will get this figured out.
Hopefully the new update fixes this. Damn are people upset on the Roon board. Golly.
Roon had people thinking it was a birthday party over 1.8.
I noticed the shuffle thing and it since stopped. Youâre not accidentally selecting âfocusâ which is all but blacked-out right above track one in every possible album, are ya? Iâm not sure what I changed, but it plays chronologically as I will always expect. Shuffle sucks.

weird. Iâm not getting the shuffle problem at all, but other things do kinda bug.
Not the end of the world tho.
99% of the time iâm just selecting an album to play, and if it continues with Roon radio, itâs generally all good.

Are you indicating the shuffle icon is reversed? Hit shuffle and an album plays normally?
Is this is what is upsetting the Roon board, or is it something else?
Can you revert back to 1.7? I have it in my head once you update you are stuck, but this may well be incorrect.
The issues with 1.8 are a great illustration of how difficult the software components of our systems can be, whether it is stand alone software or firmware running hardware.
Nope⊠and Roon wonât let you stay on a previous version forever. They only support current as they only want to run a single backend so they try to drop support for previous versions rather quickly (wonât connect to cloud anymore).

Nope, canât go backwards (yet at least). And no I have never hit focus as I lack focus. Maybe tonight Iâll try 1.8 with an illegal smile and see how that goes.

I had this issue⊠user error⊠not saying youâre causing it but let me explain my user error on why it took me a bit to sort it.
I had my Queue on shuffle and didnât notice. Itâs now a very tiny icon right of the progress slider. When I was looking at an album and clicked âplayâ or âplay from hereâ or whatever it would load into the queue shuffled (because the queue was configured to shuffle). When I turned queue shuffle off everything went back to normal.

I think you are correct. I just have not found the item that needs my attention yet. Before trying to play albums I was listening to all tracks shuffled
