There is a great story about Don Cherry in the current hardcopy edition of Stereophile.

Thanks! I will check it out.
Al, your musical tastes are very telling, in that I feel like those genres beget a preference for super detailed, accurate, highly resolving gear.
While I love a great stereo, the music I listen to is waaaaay more relaxed. So it’s probably natural that I’m ok if my audio system is less esoteric.
It’s not the same endgame for all. ![]()
I like a whole range of music including ambient which is certainly relaxing. The things i don’t care for is todays country and a lot of hip hop.
Excellent choices all!
I just bought a box full of “Country Music” (CDs) from a cousin for $30 bucks. I am not a huge country music fan, but I love great music from great artists on great recordings. I am sure there will be some “wheat” among the “chaff”.
I organized the CDs alphabetically by artist and have begun ripping them to my iMac. Here are the first of my rips/my latest “Roon Five”:
Interestingly, that last rip is of some abandoned Garth Brooks experiment that I had never heard of until digging through the box of CDs.
Cheers.
I get a lot of new to me stuff from this thread too.
What a great hobby.
I have just about filled up my IMac’s storage.
Need to figure out how to add more!
Enjoy the ripping.
