Zevon, Coltrane, Hornsby, Springsteen and Def Leopard side by side…it does get much more diverse/eclectic than this…
Kudos.

Thanks. They are new selections offered on Qobuz this week. I do try to mix it up during the week. I find I tend to get bored listening to the same stuff over and over.
I like a lot (not all, but a lot) of Bruce Springsteen’s music, but I find I just can’t listen to it on a resolving system at anything above a background volume for more than a song or two.
Something about how he likes to engineer his records…
Great crank it up in the car with the windows down music though…
I have mentioned this before on the forum somewhere. Do happen to have a similar observation/sensitivity to the music from “The Boss”?
I can appreciate your point with Springsteen’s music. I cannot think of any of his albums that are considered audiophile level recordings. Probably a bit against the grain for his blue collar roots. ![]()
Maybe its goes agains his schtick, but you would think he would actually want folks to listen to the recordings? (I know, not everyone has such posh “sensibilities”
).
I have not had the pleasure of seeing the band live with the full compliment of musicians. I fully expect that would be a great, musical experience.
Cheers.
He may put more emphasis on creating the music. I think that applies to a lot of music of the past 30 years, especially with the loudness wars. You hit the nail on the head about how it sounds better cranked up in the car. Unfortunately for us, most listeners are fine with that.
Showed up at the record store right as they were putting out someone’s entire dick’s picks collection, along with a few other gems. I went nuts and grabbed all of them. (I didn’t screengrab everything; there were 36 CDs.) I now have 1-32), with only one or two gaps.
Fun fact: DP #32 was Alpine Valley 1982, the very first Dead show I ever saw.
Nice mix…
Hmm…more new (to me) stuff to explore (sonny Rollins, excepted).
Blossom Dearie?
She came up as a “if you like that then you might like this” suggestion from roon. Recorded in the late 50’s. Although outside my normal listening range it is actually a really good record.
Will check it out, thanks…
So much music and so little time.
Amen.
Skip to 2:40 on the Video I linked to. Good stuff.
