Brian, unfortunately I don’t have an answer, but if you haven’t yet, try posting on the Rose forum. Someone there may have run into this problem and may have some info.
Thanks, I did that too. Saw someone posting about HDMI (I2S) yesterday, so I added to that thread. I am hoping its not a Rose PSAudio issue. But you are using I2s Right? works fine? (other than gapless DSD)
Hi Brian, how unfortunate! Not a topic for me. Two things that I can think of right now:
Did you power off and reboot both machines? That’s just to rule out any random misalignment, if any.
The other thing is: what Rose FW are you on? I’m on 4.19 and hesitant to upgrade to 5.07, due to the many complaints about that version.
I do hope you can enjoy your newly created listening room to the fullest shortly!

Right. Except for DSD gapless it all works fine. But I’m not a Roonophile 
, so I have no experience there.
The new RS130 looks even more interesting to me.

So interesting. Most excellent usb I have has nothing but issues with roon rose MKII combo. Just mutes all the time. I have to go into setting and unmute. Weird thing is roon thinks rose has vol control. Very strange. Put dhlabs hdmi all seems good. No more DOP and no vol issues. Guess stick with it.

On the Rose, see USB output settings: is the software volume control switch set to off?
It was set to off. Frankly I have no idea why vol. control was on when using USB and its off when using I2S. Everytime I skip a song with usb it mutes…have to use Roon to unmute as both the dac and pre is not muted. Very strange. I should try a diff. usb cable to see if the cable is bad. But not sure how the cable would effect software like that, I don’t think it can. The strange thing is the vol control did nothing…sliding it up and down had zero effect. Only the mute setting did anything and it engaged at random times.
When changing that Software control setting, did you confirm your new command in the top right corner to actually take effect?
Changing back and forth works with me.
BTW, what’s your Roon volume setting: variable or fixed? It’s fixed with me. I either control volume over the MK2 or BHK Pre.
Thats my point…it should be fixed, but its not when using usb. No idea why. With I2S its fixed. I think I tried changing to fixed and it still muted, but I could not unmute it as it was fixed…lol.
I did not have to change it. it was set to off, never was on. Guess I could try flipping it on and then off again.
Please try flipping settings both in Roon and on the Rose back and forth. Let me know how this plays out.
And perhaps also rebooting both machines, as they’re software (too)…
So flip both usb settings in 130 on and then off…then reboot.
Change Roon setting to Fixed vol.
